World Book Day

The whole school took part in a fantastically-planned World Book Day!

Our morning began with a relaxed paired reading session where the older class paired up with the younger class and read from each others favourite books. Thorin brought in a selection of books which he gave to all those who needed one for the reading session and he has kept his books in the school for others to read for a few weeks – how kind!

Here are some of the children’s thoughts on the paired reading:

Gregor: “Karlton was listening to my book and I helped Karlton to read his own book too.”

Myra: “Danna was trying to sound out words in her book and even in mine.”

Ava W: “We all read a few pages of each others’ books and it was really nice.”

Kamil & Ross: “We read one of Thorin’s books and now we want to read much more of them.”

Charlie: “It was fun teaching Kamran to read.”

Ry: “Kamran was really interested in the book.”

After lunch the Lolah, from the Enterprise Group, had a secret activity planned which was a Book Hunt! Lolah and Ry had worked hard labelling books and hiding them and all the children helped find them all and got a book to take home. It was a lot of fun!

P5-7 also researched different authors and made a lovely, informative display!

We ended the day with a relaxed afternoon of reading our new books and doing book-related activities. I think we can all agree that the Enterprise Group did a fantastic job at making this World Book Day one to remember.
