World Day of Prayer 2024

This week the whole school took part in The World Day of Prayer which was on March 1st. The country focus for this year was Palestine.

Both classes learned about the country of Palestine and the difficulties faced there. We also learned about the importance of olive trees there as olive production is a main source of income for the Palestinians.

P1-4 made their own olive trees and added their class names to the trees to symbolise our strength and our prayers for peace.

P5-7 wrote their hopes and prayers for their own futures, for the world and for Palestine onto keys as keys are a symbol of hope in Palestine.

SDG / UNCRC / SHANARRI goals discussed:

  • UNCRC 14 – Children have the right to freedom of thought and religion
  • UNCRC 19 – Children have the right to be safe from any harm
  • UNCRC 22 – Children have the right to be protected as a refugee
  • UNCRC 38 – Children have the right to be protected during war
  • SHANARRI – Safe, Healthy, Nurtured
  • Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
