Orchard Planting

Norval and Jo from Incredible Edibles came to St. Joseph’s R.C. Primary today and began the planting of a school orchard with the children! Norval spoke to the pupils first about the importance of a healthy diet and how fruits contribute to that. She discussed how growing local produce benefits local communities and also reduces our carbon footprint so helps our planet too! The children were keen to share their favourite fruits and are very excited about the upkeep of our new orchard and of course, tasting the delicious fruit when it appears!

Thank you to Incredible Edibles for a wonderful day and for providing us with this opportunity and thank you to the council for digging holes for the trees. Thank you also to Donna Westbrook for contacting the group to enhance our beautiful outdoor area. We had an amazing day!
