Super Summer Fete

What a successful day we had for St. Joseph’s Summer Fete!  Our school was buzzing with activity from start to finish with a fantastic turn out from our community.  Our Parent Council, pupils, staff and families organised a fantastic day of non-stop entertainment for our community members to enjoy.  We were also visited by Councillor Chrissie Hill and Father Ben Lodge of St. Joseph’s parish.  There was brass band music to enjoy, beat the goalie, plant potting, squirrel box making, a coconut shy, craft stalls, the emergency services and a bouncy castle to boot plus much more!  The baking and bottle stalls and the raffle were generously supported by donations from our community and local businesses.

To mark the occasion of the 80th anniversary, we had a ribbon cutting ceremony to ‘unveil’ our new World War II mural.  Elaine Barton of the Stranraer and District Local History Trust carried out the honours.  She represented her father, David Brown, a World War II veteran, who’s identify bracelet number is painted onto the mural. He was unfortunately unwell and unable to attend.  The mural has been designed and created by the children in collaboration with Diane Hamilton of Accessible Art.

It was a great day of strong community spirit and fun.  St. Joseph’s Primary would like to thank everyone who supported our event to raise funds for our great wee school!
