Game Design!

Last week Primary 5-7 took part in 3 sessions of game designing through coding with My World of Work. The children began by learning how computers work, how video games are made and about the surprising amount of careers available to them in the gaming industry. We talked about the importance of Metaskills – life skills that are important in all types of employment (pictured below). The children most definitely used many, if not all of these skills through these sessions and had an amazing experience! Following careful instructions from our online teacher, the children chose and created landscapes for their game, their own characters and designed their own game so that it could be played and won or lost by others. All children were fully engaged and carried on with it well after the session had finished, some of them even continued at home! What a fabulous experience and we hope to do more again in the future.
