What a successful day we had for St. Joseph’s Summer Fete! Our school was buzzing with activity from start to finish with a fantastic turn out from our community. Our Parent Council, pupils, staff and families organised a fantastic day of non-stop entertainment for our community members to enjoy. Our Partnership Primary 6 pupils attended Operation Safety at Stair Park on Tuesday as part of an education and awareness service operated by our emergency services. The children participated in workshops on a range of key themes to help educate them on dangers they may face and how best to manage risk to keep themselves as safe, healthy and trouble free as possible. We are proud to introduce our new Eco Code and Eco Mascots for St. Joseph’s, as designed by our pupils. The Keep Scotland Beautiful Eco Schools Award requires each school to create their own unique mascot and codes to represent our action plan for the award. P5-7 got stuck in to our second session of our Spero robotics club today. This time the challenge was to design a route for the Sphero that the device would follow. We learned that we had to make sure each line in our 2D shapes joined otherwise the Sphero had a ‘dead zone’ instruction gap. Well done to our great wee team of football players for playing their first matches at the inter-school 7-a-side matches on Friday. Team sports are such a positive experience for building meta-skills such as respect, cooperation and, of course, they’re great fun too! Thank you to Mr Hilftery as our team coach. Tonight was the first session which had a great turn out from the boys and girls who were very keen to take part. The children thoroughly enjoyed the active session.
