Our Partnership

We had a partnership Halloween party at Lochrutton. We started with a petrifying parade, then we played scary statues and chilly musical chairs. We then had a snack. After that we had a haunted carrousel and in it we played ‘witches wart’, ‘pass the pumpkin’ and ‘appalling apple dookin’. In my group I won pass the pumpkin! I dressed up as Chloe from ‘Descendants Rise of Red’ and got best dressed for my year. I had a great time at this party! – Aria

We went on a school trip to Tongland Power Station. First we got a safety talk, then we went into the different rooms. We got shown the different dams and where they are. We got given cards and then had to put them where they should go. We also got to dress up! Then we went up to the dam and went a walk around it. There were big jets and fast running water. We both thought it was brilliant! – Indie & Finley

We went to Mabie Farm Park for an end of year school trip. We played all around the park – some things we played on were the go-karts, the swinging rope in the hay stack and the bouncy pillow. We also had a go on all the slides. We then got to feed the animals and also hold a rabbit and a guinea pig. After that we got a go of the train and a ride in the boats! We finished the day with an ice cream! Millie’s favourite part was the swing and the train. Aurelia’s favourite was the train and and the ice cream at the end. We both had a great time! – Aurelia & Millie

The whole school went with Shawhead to Caerlaverock Castle for a school trip. First we went in the shop to find the first character for our scavenger hunt around the castle and the surroundings. After the hunt we looked at all the old artefacts, did some jousting on a fake horse and played Capture the Flag altogether. We also had a play at the park. We then went into the woods for a bug hunt. Finally we went to the shop and got to buy something. We both had a fun day! We went to Shawhead for a partnership skills day. We split into a younger and an older group. We watched Inside Out 2 while we weren’t taking part in a task. We started with water safety with the fire brigade, we learned about what to do if someone fell in the water. There was rubbish on the side of the water and we had to pick which one to use to save them, the ball and the bottle were the best because they could float. The second thing we done was out in the playground on bikes and scooters with Bryony, with her we were riding around an obstacle course. After lunch we had a man and a woman come in and they’re a charity helping people to learn CPR, they also taught us about defibrillators, this is a great way to save lives! The younger children used their teddies to practice on and the older ones used dummies. The final thing we done was with the police and we learned about how to keep safe online! We both thought it was a fun day. Leo’s favourite was the online safety and Indie’s was the water safety! – Indie & Leo

We had a partnership Burns day at Shawhead. First we had our Scots poetry competition where we stood up in front of the whole school and got marked out of 25 for how we done. Once we said our poem we went to the side and marked the next person. After break we performed some Scottish dancing to prepare for the Day of Dance on Friday. After lunch we drew a picture of our self with different emotions, we used oil pastels for these. For the background we made a tartan design. We then wrote the emotion in the Scots word for it. We both did ‘greetin’. At the end of the day we found out the winners to the poetry competition. P1 was Hallie, P2 Ruairi, P3 Arleigh, P4 Indie, P5 Asa, P6 Lola and P7 was Jackson. Since I won, I got a book called ‘The Sleekit Mr Tod’, it is in Scottish. – Amelia & Indie

We had a partnership Christmas Party at Shawhead. First we played ‘Santa’s Coming’, this is when the teacher calls out an action and you have to do it, the last person to do it is out. Next we played the Chocolate game. You line up and if you roll a 6 on the dice you start putting on a scarf, hat and gloves and then scoop up a bit of chocolate, but if someone else rolls a 6 you have to take it all back off. We then played Christmas corners. After a snack break we played musical chairs. To finish off we played Grinch darts. We had to see who could get the closest to the nose. We both say our favourite game was ‘Santa’s Coming’. – Indie & Lilah

On Monday the 16th of December we had our school Christmas show. It was called ‘It’s a Christmas Party’. The play was about the birth of Jesus. In the play there was a dove, a donkey, sheep, shepherds, Mary, Joseph, innkeepers, Wise Men and angels. There were also narrators telling the story. We sang a lot of songs as well! We were the dove and a narrator! We both enjoyed it! – Aria & Millie

We had a STEM partnership day. First we listened to a live video of ‘Leg it to Lapland’ so we could learn about it for next week. Then we split into 2 groups. One group went to build Lego where you had to build a car in groups of 3 and we all got a different role to do! The other group used K’nex to build a castle! In the afternoon we had a curling event. We were split into teams of 4 and competed against each other. The coaches were also looking out for people who could be in the Lochrutton team for the curling tournament at Dalbeattie. We are both in the team! – Indie & Aurelia

We had a Halloween party at Lochrutton. First, we had a parade to show off our costumes, where we walked round the hall. Then we played ‘scary statues’, ‘spooky corners’, ‘chilly musical chairs’ and then we had a snack! After that, we played ‘pass the pumpkin’. We then split into younger and older groups and played ‘witches wart’ which was when you were blind folded and you had to put a bit of blue tac on the witches nose to see who could get closest. The other activity was ‘apple dooking’. Before we left we all got a packet of sweets to take home. I liked it because I wasn’t there last year for it, it was great fun! – Indie

We had a partnership day at Shawhead which was ‘Charlotte’s Web’ themed as we have been reading the book in class. We had 4 different activities to get through. We made chocolate apple’s, we made parachutes with a spider on it and we made friendship bracelets that had a kind word on it for someone. We also created some music where there was a picture of Wilbur the pig and there was writing on the piece of paper that had some bits of the story. In the story Wilbur did a half twist back flip and we wrote down different shapes to represent each sound it would make and then we used instruments to make the sound. After lunch we watched the movie and then we had 2 visitors – Wilbur and Uncle – real pigs that belonged to Zara! I had a very good day! – Gracie
