As part of Maths Week Scotland, we have been doing problem solving and puzzles. We really had to think about known strategies to solve the problems. We worked in twos’ which helped us ‘bounce’ ideas off one another. Have a look at some of our puzzles.








On Monday 3rd October P7 visited Dumfries High School to take part in Play In A Day!
The topic we were learning about was social media and what could go wrong on social media. – Iona
At Play In A Day we developed our drama skills by scripting and acting out a play about the dangers of social media.- Reuben
Some of the pupils at DHS took little groups to help us make up a dance for the rap which we learned. _ Lacey

We all got to act the play out in front of some of our parents. We all really enjoyed it!- Moaz
At Play In A Day I thought it was really fun when we were acting it out but it was also a little nerve-wracking. _ Ella

Before lunch we went outside to play some sports with the Sports Ambassadors. We played rounders and ultimate frizbee. – Wilson

As part of Maths Week Scotland we had a visit from the Maths Roadshow. We visited different stations around the room solving different kinds of maths puzzles. – Lucy
We had to use our problem solving skills to put the puzzles together and work them out with a partner. – Sonny

In PE with Mr Sharp, we have been learning skills in basketball. We worked in groups to learn new skills. Leah took some photos during the lesson. Here are some photographs to share with you.






Last week, we had a visit from Andrew Hay, one of our local Community Safety Officers. He talked to us about playing our part to keep the community tidy and safe. This involves recycling our rubbish, picking up our dog’s poo, not dropping litter and being respectful to each other within the community.
We also had a visit from Laura, the Gull Officer. She told us about the 5 different breeds of gulls and that we should never feed them.

Primary 6 have been learning to work within a budget. Pupils were split into groups and given a budget of £5.00. Within their group, they had to work out if anyone had food intolerances and dislikes. They then had to use websites to price the best option for fruit to make a fruit kebab.

During the past two weeks the P7 class have enjoyed developing new skills in the game of hockey.
