Our Muddle Monster

Meet Muddle!

In Primary 1/2 we use the Colour Monster stories and displays to help us understand and talk about our emotions. Muddle has joined our class as a worry monster. His feelings are all mixed up and he knows how that can make things feel difficult . We write or draw our worries and pop it in his mouth, the next day they are gone!

We have a worry flow chart behind Muddle’s seat which we discuss in class. Muddle has helped us talk about our worries and reminds us who can help us in school and at home.

Promises to our Planet

In Primary 1/2 we have been learning about our role as global citizens and discussing everyday things we can do to help our environment.

We came up with 5 ideas each and then made a “Promise to our Planet”. These include recycling, saving power, being careful with our water use and respecting nature.

P6 CSI Event

Aila – We went to Dumfries High school for a crime scene investigation event. We used different equipment including a Bunsen Burner, microscope, test tubes and chemicals that made reactions to the evidence to find the culprit behind the case of the stolen chocolates.

Ethan – We were at the CSI event in the Dumfries high school, CSI is an abbreviation for Crime Scene Investigation and we investigated the crime of the missing chocolates. We had to look at the finger prints on the chocolates, the saliva on a half eating chocolate, we used a microscope to look at fibres, Bunsen burners and we collected snot from a used tissue to get the DNA that belongs to the thief. At the end all the clues led to Mr Cubbin.

Jess – We went to Dumfries High School for a CSI investigation. The crime we tried to solve was all about Mr Pullen box of chocolate!

Lacey – For our school trip we went to Dumfries High School to do a CSI event. CSI is Crime Scene Investigation for the stolen chocolates. To help us solve the crime we analysed finger prints, saliva, fibres and DNA. We learned how to use Bunsen burners and a microscope we also used chromatography paper to see who wrote the ransom note

Nathan- When we were doing the bunsen burners I learned all of the parts of it. When we were using them I learned how to use a safe flame and a hot flame. Before we started using the Bunsen burners we put some soil from the footprints at the crime scene where the chocolate was stolen. And then we put the soil into this special water and we left it for 30 minutes while we we were at lunch. After lunch we came back up to the classroom and we checked on the soil chemicals by burning them.

Moaz – In this photo we were using micro scopes to look at the fibres and see which one matches the crime scene. To help us solve the crime we took fingerprints from each suspect to find out who stole poor Mr pullens chocolate.

Kallan – The Bunsen burner was fun .me and corrie  was having fun I hated the snots they were gross. I like are table it was helpful for rubbers.

Lyla – In our learning we went to the high school to do a CSI event, crime scene investigation. We had to find who stole Mr Pullens chocolates! The three suspects are Mr Davidson, Mrs Hogg and Mr Cubbin. We had to do lots weird experiments for example, working with snot, DNA and fire.

Ria – We went to Dumfries High School for a CSI investigation. The crime we tried to solve was all about Mr Pullens box of Milk Tray chocolate! The suspects were Mr Davidson, Mrs Hogg and Mr Cubbon. We used a Ransom note, Fingerprints, Soil Samples, Fibres, Saliva samples and A DNA sample we took them from all 3 of the suspects! After a long 6 hours of Investigation we finally figured out that Mr Cubbon was the criminal!

Sonny – On our csi trip to figure out who stole the chocolates we done lots of stuff like snot, saliva, fibres, Benson burners and finger prints we had to do a lot of DNA stuff to figure out who ate the chocolates
