A visit from the Community Safety Officer

Last week, we had a visit from Andrew Hay, one of our local Community Safety Officers.  He talked to us about playing our part to keep the community tidy and safe.   This involves recycling our rubbish, picking up our dog’s poo, not dropping litter and being respectful to each other within the community.

We also had a visit from Laura, the Gull Officer.  She told us about the 5 different breeds of gulls and that we should never feed them.

Getting started in P2/3!

What a busy first few weeks we have had.  We have been trying hard to establish and follow our new classroom rules.

We have also spent a bit of time learning about each others differences and how to treat each other with kindness and respect.  We used the book ‘Only One You’ to help with this.

We designed our own ‘individual’ fish.  Aren’t they all different?

We also showed our differences and individuality when we made our self portraits…what do you think?

Our new class pupil councillor was also elected.  Well done to Carly! And also to Nathan who was voted to be our Vice.  We know you will both do a fantastic job.

Outdoor Learning in P3

Primary 3 love learning outside and with the better weather arriving, we have been making the most of it!

We have learning all about the signs of Spring and we were very interested to learn that lots of birds build their nests in Spring.  Here we are using natural resources to try and build our own birds nests, it definitely isn’t as easy as it looks!

Our new topic for term 4 is ‘Plants’.  We have been busy learning what plants need to grow and how important they are for our environment.

We have been digging over one of the school planters to prepare it for some wildflower seeds.  We hope this will encourage bees and butterflies into our school garden.

We have also planted our own sunflower seeds, we can’t wait to see them grow!

Here we are in the Sensory Garden, we were sketching different plants that we could see.

New Playground Equipment in P3

Primary 3 have enjoyed ‘testing’ their new playground equipment.  They have decided on a set of rules to make sure the equipment is looked after properly, they have selected some monitors to look after the equipment and they have made a checklist to make sure all the class equipment comes back!

They look forward to taking it out at breaks and lunchtimes from next week!
