Science Investigation in P1-3 !

P1-3 have been learning all about chocolate. We have discovered that chocolate can change from a solid to a liquid, and back again! Today we applied this to water. We learned all about melting and freezing. Our challenge was to free the 10p coin from the ice block as fast as we could. We could choose from different insulating materials to help us, as well as warm water and salt. We discovered that the salt worked really well to melt the ice quickly! We used our meta-skills today, collaborating with others to problem solve. Well done team ๐Ÿ™‚ Mrs McCrudden

Campfire Cooking!

We had so much fun today in the sun! We learned how to make Banana Boats! They were delicious!
We just love bringing our learning outside!
While other groups created frames for their dens and went on a โ€˜bug huntโ€™, we told campfire stories as we smelled our delicious bananas cooking on the fire! They were delicious!!๐Ÿ˜‹

Challenge! Challenge! Challenge!

How would you spell Duncow Primary without writing it?

The children came up with fantastic and creative ideas! What an amazing group of children. They all worked together (P1-7 mixed groups), planning, creating, building and making – problem solving along the way!

We are so proud of their results!

All winners, all champions! Well done, everyone!!!!!

Egg Fun!

What ‘egg’sellent’effort from children with their egg designs! Mrs D and Mrs J found it such a challenge judging! What fun and well done to all!

Happy Easter everyone and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 13th April!

Sand! Sand! Sand!

We are delighted to announce that Duncow Primary have their very own incredible SANDPIT!!!

With the help of all the pupils and some amazing parents who arrived at the end of the day, 12 bags of sand was carried round the back of our school and our sandpit was made!

The children, and adults, are enjoying this amazing new learning space. We are looking at many many more years of fun to come!

Very thankful!

Fantastic end to our ‘People Who Help Us’ project

Over the course of term 3, P1-3 have been learning all about people who help us, including the emergency services. Some of the children have summarised a special visit below:

PC Elliot came to the school today. We had lots of fun. We all got to try some Police clothes on and a Police helmet. We learned about strangers. We had lots of questions for her. Isla P2

PC Elliot is a girl and she is a Police Officer. She came in today. She has handcuffs and pepper spray and a baton. PC Elliot brought in some uniform and the class put it on. She told us that going with a stranger is wrong and she told us that if we were lost we could go to a Police Officer. PC Elliot told us that if something bad is happening to us we can shout STRANGER DANGER! Raife P3

We learned a lot of things about the Police but let’s start with my favourite. I loved when we dressed up like the police and took pictures. We asked questions and my one was ‘why don’t police cats exist?’ and we learned more about pepper spray and bits and bobs. Maggie P2

PC Elliot is a Police Officer. PC Elliot came to my school and we tried on a hat and hi-vis vest and it was very very fun. PC Elliot arrests people and she has equipment like pepper spray and handcuffs. Logan P3

We learned about stranger danger. We also learned that the police use vans and cars. Police wear special uniform. Police have special equipment. Police have pepper spray and it hurts a lot. They have hard vests. They have hats to wear. Tala P3

Daffodils

We used a daffodil as an example of what we were going to draw today.

Mrs Campbell taught us how to make the trumpet of the daffodil and the petals.
