P3,4,5 have got loads of ‘Energi!’

10/03/2017 by Mrs Devlin | 1 Comment

On Wednesday P3,4,5 enjoyed a trip to Energi Trampoline park in Carlisle. The pupils were able pay for the whole trip themselves using the profit that they made during their Christmas Enterprise Mini Dragons’ Den projects.

The pupils (and Mrs Devlin and Mrs Peacock!) had an absolutely fantastic time bouncing around all the trampolines, climbing, balancing and even having a go at some Parkour and the Ninja Warrior course.

There was lots of positive feedback about Energi; ‘best day ever!’ and ‘that was epic’ were a few of the comments that were shared on the bus journey back.

Well done everyone for representing your school so brilliantly and being able to fund a school trip yourselves…a Dalry Primary first I believe!

Here are a few pictures of the trip. Mrs Devlin will upload more ASAP.

P3,4,5, the Master Chefs!

02/02/2017 by Mrs Devlin | 1 Comment

Today’s last lesson with Mrs Farqhar was an opportunity for the pupils to use the skills that they had been learning and developing over the past few weeks.

This week’s challenge was to prepare the vegetables for lentil soup, which meant the pupils had to use their sharp knife skills again. Everyone remembered the two hand grips when using a sharp knife: the claw and the bridge. Mrs Farqhar was very impressed.

The pupils also learned about our dietary requirements and the use of salt in cooking. Mrs Farqhar suggested that all food should be tasted before more salt is added, especially when using stock cubes.

Everyone gained lots of new skills and knowledge during the lessons and were keen to help and cook more at home.

The H.E. lessons were a great success:

‘I learned some recipes that I can make at home without a cooker’ – Daisy P3

‘I learned about how to hold my sharp knife and how to hold the food with a claw and a bridge’ – Joe P4

‘I want to cook lots at home’ – Oscar P3
