Bird Club have been busy preparing for the Big Schools’ Bird Watch in 2 weeks time, by making our school more ‘bird friendly.’
The group started by looking for areas around the school that already encouraged birds into our playground, We also observed the types of birds that were in and around the area.
We then decided to adapt and improve an area at the front of the school that would become a ‘bird friendly sanctuary’ for our feathered friends.
This Friday, Bird Club set to work, building 2 bird boxes, making bird cakes and fat balls and filling peanut feeders.
We look forward to seeing the numbers and varieties of birds in our playground increase and hope that you enjoy watching the bird sanctuary evolve overtime as much as we will…
If you’ve got an idea of what we could call the ‘bird sanctuary,’ please let Mrs Devlin know. Your idea might be the chosen name!
We have our very own Red Kite!
