Elizabeth Spernagel was the winner of our harvest Festival art competition. Her winning painting ‘Fields of Gold’ was used on the gift tags for the food packages that Kells Primary children put together and distributed to the elderly of new Galloway. One of those who received a package, Mr Hamish Yoeman, liked the picture so much he had it framed and asked us to present it to Elizabeth. Unfortunately he was unavailable to present the picture himself, so it was presented by Mrs Muir
The pupils from both classes worked with Mrs Bielinski our art specialist to create this banner and bunting for the Queen’s Baton Relay that was taking place in Castle Douglas on Thursday 19th June.
P1-4 have been very working hard with Mrs Bielinski, our art specialist, to produce paintings inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Congratulations to Amberleigh who came first in the Stewartry District in Russell Brown MP’s Christmas Card Competition. Amberleigh won a special pass for a car and four passengers on a Stena Line ferry. Amberleigh was received her prize last weekend at a special presentation at Tesco in Castle Douglas. Amberleigh’s winning design plus the ten Kells entries that received a Certificate of Merit are also displayed in the shop. Look out for Amberleigh’s photo in the Galloway News. We will post Amberleigh with her winning design in the near future .
Recently Mrs Bielinski our art specialist took the P5-7 pupils to the Catstrand for some art appreciation plus the opportunity to make Halloween lanterns.
