World Book Day 2019

P2 enjoyed world book day this year. We had a visit from P5 who came and shared their favourite books with us and helped us with our reading. We had a parade of costumes in the hall which was fun. We also had an afternoon looking at illustrations. We read The Cat in the Hat and had a go at trying some of our own illustrations in our Big Draw!

P2 visit Dumfries House Engineering Centre

On Friday, P2 travelled to Cumnock to the Dumfries House Estate. They have a super cool water and sand park which we had great fun exploring. We were in 2 groups, we went bug hunting and learned about forces and friction and made our own rockets which we got to launch.

Bibi -‘ We all had to work together to get the water moving, it was so cool!’

Annabel – ‘We were having so much fun playing we didn’t even know we were learning.’

Rory -‘ We had to share with each other and it was nice playing together.’

P2 Fruit Kebabs

Today Kendall from Tesco came in to visit us with lots of fruit for healthy snack. We have been learning about balanced diet and making good choices when it comes to the food we eat. With Miss Murray we have been looking at the Eat Well Plate and fruit is one of the main food groups. Today we made fruit kebabs using bananas, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, pear, Satsuma and grapes. We had great fun making them and enjoyed them for snack.

P2 French Café

On Thursday afternoon P2 invited parents and grandparents to our French Café, we took their orders and served them some French food. We had baguettes, pain au chocolat, crepes and croissants as well as orange juice, lemonade and hot chocolate. We really enjoyed our French food.

‘un crepe avec Nutella et un chocolat chaud s’il vous plait’

P2 SCIAF Healthy Food Tuck Shop

As part of their ‘Business’ topic, P2 were finding out about the different jobs which are involved in running a business. They carried out a survey asking which snacks were most popular, they handed out order forms and collected the orders and money in, they made a shopping list for all the snacks we needed, some of them even carried the shopping bags all the way back to school from Morrison’s, they sorted the orders out for each day and delivered them to the classes. What super hard workers in P2 and they managed to raise a fantastic £85.00 for SCIAF. Well Done!
