Gracefield Art Centre
P2 finished their book topic and artist study by visiting the local Art Centre. The exhibition was ‘Picture Hooks’ and included illustrations from books. The children had great fun looking around the exhibition and were able to complete the quiz sheet. After we had snack and then created our own book covers using pens, crayons and oil pastels. We had a super day.

P4 Science Centre Trip
P4 went to the science centre on Thursday 16th June. We got to go to the Imax to see a £D film, it was about lemurs in Madagascar. Then we went into the science mall in our groups, we were able to have a look round and investigate all the things that were there. There was a whole floor about the human body, we had great fun leaning about how our body works. We even found out what jobs we could do if we enjoy science.
What a fantastic day!

Celebrating our Learning
P4 have been very busy learning about the life and times for Robert Burns. We made posters to share what we have been learning about for the Nursery. We wrote our own ‘Tales of Tam O Shanter’ and shared them with P7 as they have been reading the poem in class. We are very proud of our work and enjoyed sharing what we have been learning with others in the school.
We shared our posters with Nursery AM and PM.
P7 were very impressed with Our Tam O Shanter Tales.

P4 Burns Walk
On Tuesday P4 had a very busy day visiting local places of interest and finding out about Robert Burns. We went to visit his house where he lived in Dumfries, this is also the house where he died. We went to the Mausoleum to see where he had been buried, we found out that it was not the place he was buried in the first place, he was moved to the site of the Mausoleum 19 years after he died. We then had to walk over the Robert Burns Centre, we watched a film about Burns’ life in the cinema then we went upstairs to see some more artefacts and information about his life. There is a model of Dumfries as it would have looked when Robert Burns was living here. It was really interesting. After that we walked up the really steep hill for lunch at the museum and then we had a wander round. Our last activity of the day was a Burns on the Beat workshop with Dr Fred, he told us about Burns songs and we listened to some music that Burns would have listened to when he was growing up.
We had a really good day, even though we had to walk a lot. Well done P4!!
