Children in Need Fun

On Friday 15th November Kirkcowan School raised £267 for Children in Need through P4-7 organising various activities throughout the week.

On Monday the 11th of November Karen and Jemma launched the fundraising campaign by presenting a power point to the rest of the school on the importance of raising lots of money for disadvantaged children all over the UK.

The fundraising activities/events planned were:

  • Donation boxes were  sent home on Monday 11th November (one per family) to be filled with any loose change.
  • Pupils could enter Pudsey’s fun run. They guessed where he was off to (which town/city in the UK) for a donation of £1. The winning answer was ‘Stoke’; well done Connor and Ruby for guessing correctly!
  • For nursery to P4 pupils there was a dress up Pudsey art competition (completed in school time) which was 20p to enter. Prizes were awarded to Hallie, Emily, Hawkai and Lennon for the best Pudsey outfits.
  • On Friday afternoon there were activities for the whole school to take part in FOR FREE! These included: spotty cake decorating, Pudsey bingo and a disco. There was also an opportunity to pin the patch on Pudsey at a cost of 20p per go.
  • Pupils were invited to dress like a superhero, in spots or a combination of both for the whole day on Friday the 15th November and the finale to the whole week was a fashion show hosted by Grace and Libby. Entry was £1 and the best outfits from nursery, p1-4 and p4-7 received prizes.
  • Congratulations to Evie, Karen, Charley, Sophie, Jayden and Kayana for your wonderful costumes and to all pupils for making an effort on the day.

Well done to all pupils for helping to raise such a fantastic amount for a great cause.

Kirkcowan Netball Team Debut!

Last night (13.6.13) six girls from P4-6 represented Kirkcowan School in a Machars netball tournament. After a tentative start the team began to relax and managed a win in the fourth game against Penninghame Primary 4-0! Abbie Ribbens (GS) scored the incredible goals along with the support of her enthusiastic team:  Ellis Stables (C) , Karen King (GA) , Grace Taylor (GK), Leah Lonsdale (GD) and Millie Gray (GD).

Well done girls we are proud of you, let’s get training for next year!

P1/2/3 obstacle course at the skip-a-thon

Despite the incredibly warm weather on Friday (7.6.13)  all pupils made a valiant effort to complete their skip-a-thon sponsored event. All pupils who took part did extremely well and we are delighted to say that their efforts to gather sponsors, so far, amount to over £1100 for British Heart Foundation, amazing!

Please could we remind anyone who is yet to bring in sponsor money to do so before Friday 14th June. Also remember we will need to send off individual sponsor forms to the British Heart Foundation so they can claim gift aid and also so pupils can claim for the digital skipping ropes if applicable (£50 + sponsors). Thank you again for all your support. Photographs and reports written by pupils on all the events during health week will be appearing in the local press soon.

Here’s Hamish throwing a beanbag into the net at our skip a  thon obstacle race.
