School Break-In

It is with much sadness that I report to you of a break-in school last weekend. Lap-tops, I-pads, hard drives and walkie-talkies are among the items taken. Every room was entered and items were removed using the green recycling bags, of all things! The locked doors in the staffroom and Headteacher’s office were broken down to allow them further access.

We are most grateful to our local police and CID for their support throughout the day, their quick retrieval of many of the stolen items and subsequent arrest of the culprits. Our records show that 249 texts were sent and delivered at 7.40am by the school office with only 7 not receiving this, mostly due to signal problems and old mobile numbers being on record. Thankyou for your support and understanding at such short notice- it is very much appreciated.

Our pupils and staff are very upset at the intrusion of the school and the theft of our resources, some of which were purchased through fund-raising. However our school community is united in not allowing the poor decisions of others affect the positive futures of our young people! Aim high, Hecklegirth!

Family Conversations

Thankyou to all those who attended our family conversations event. Teachers, pupils and parents/carers agreed new targets for the new year and these will be photocopied and sent out to you by the end of term. For those not attending, targets will be discussed in class with your child and a copy sent home for your information.

P7 Bloggers

We would like to introduce ourselves as the newly appointed P7 Bloggers. We are learning to use the blog and will update information and news during the year. We are Summer, Jack, Marika, Julia, Carly and Grayce.

Football Festival

Well done to the boys who took part in an Annandale and Eskdale football tournament on Friday.  The boys were unbeaten in their group drawing with Moffat and beating Elmvale and Langholm.  They beat Lockerbie in the Quarter Finals but were beaten in the Semi Finals by Newington and finished fourth overall.  Well done boys!

Primary 1 have enjoyed their first day in their new classroom.

Away ahead of schedule, Mrs Lindsay and P2/1 have moved round to their new classroom this morning after collecting their indoor shoes and PE kits from their old room. This class will be lining up at their new door with the other classes from the start of next term.

Thankyou to staff for their hard work during and after the school day to help get us up and running with minimum disruption- we have made time up even over this week since our letter went out! You can see by their happy faces that P2/1 are pleased with the move!

P3 ON THE MOVE

Mrs Alexander has taken photos of P3 in their new classroom. The class is ready ahead of schedule due to the hard work of staff who are keen to keep disruption to a minimum. Thank you for your patience and understanding and thank you to the pupils for their smiles today.
