World Book Day

World Book Day is always a lovely opportunity to celebrate our favourite books and to encourage the children to enjoy stories. This year, as part of a whole school celebration, the children were encouraged to dress as their favourite book character and to bring in their favourite books. It was great to see so many children participating and we have some lovely photos to reflect our day.
We hope that you enjoy these photos of some of the children’s super outfits – more will follow in the next few days of their visit to Annan library as part of our celebrations.

Harvey Loves Stories

Harvey M’s family has been looking at the photos of the children visiting the Book Fair in the school library:

“Nice to see Harvey enjoying reading the books and visiting the library for world book day! He keeps us busy every night getting us to read 5 stories before bed!”

Wow Harvey! You are a very lucky boy getting five stories before bed. We will be posting photos of the children on World Book Day soon.

Book Fair Visit

We all had a visit to the Book Fair in the school library today to have a look at what was on offer and, as you can see, the children loved browsing all the different books. A few children bought books and some talked about visiting the Book Fair with their parents. The Book Fair runs for the rest of the week and parents are welcome to visit it between 3.00 and 3.30 in the school library.

Library Walk

Tomorrow, March 2nd, is World Book Day and all school and Nursery children are invited to dress as their favourite book character and to bring their favourite book to share with others. We would like to remind you that we will also be taking the children to Annan library so ask that whatever the children choose to wear is practical and warm enough for the walk. Thank you for your help.

What Type of Stories Do You Like?

With World Book Day in a couple of days time, we have been talking to the children about the type of books that they enjoy.

Chloe: I like Peppa. Mummy and Daddy read to me.
Leah P: my Nana reads to me. I like pirate books.
James: I like Peppa Pig.
George: I like dinosaur books.
Summer: my favourite books are princess ones. Daddy reads to me.
Tom: I like the Batman one.
Harris: I like books about water. My Mummy and Daddy buy me books.
Edward: I like Lightning McQueen books. He’s a racing car and he has eyes on. Mummy reads with me every day.
Danielle: I like Cinderella. Daddy reads to me.
Ava: I like unicorn books.
Alyssa: I like “Hungry Caterpillar”. Mummy reads to me.
Eli: Mummy and Daddy read to me. I like comic books like Batman.
Mason: I like Superman stories.
Sally: I like the caterpillar one.
Crue: I like monster books.

It sounds like those mummies and daddies are very busy telling stories and it’s great to hear about all the different types of books that the children like. I wonder what stories we will hear on our visit to the library on Thursday?

World Book Day Outing

World Book Day was a great success with the children coming to Nursery in their pyjamas with their favourite book. As part of our celebration and our learning about the local community, we also paid a visit to Annan library. As you can see, everyone seemed to enjoy the super stories read by Tina and were keen to discuss which was their favourite.
Lots of children seemed to be familiar with the library and hopefully more may join after this visit. Thank you to all the parents who came along with us. We really appreciate your help.

Super Storytellers

Miss Dennis, our P7/6 teacher, has been having a look at our World Book Day photos and left us a message:

Glad to see world book day activities were enjoyed by nursery children and the primary six buddies. I hope you all enjoyed the stories! Primary 6 from P7/6 certainly enjoyed reading the stories to the nursery pupils and are looking forward to reading more stories with them!

We already know that Primary 6 children are shaping into great buddies and we discovered that they are very good storytellers too. Thank you Miss Dennis for leaving us a comment and thanks also to the super children from your class who did a great job. We look forward to seeing them again soon in Nursery.
