New Term

We hope that everyone has enjoyed their holidays with their families. You will no doubt have lots of tales to tell us when you return. Nursery starts back tomorrow (Monday) when we look forward to welcoming three new children and their families. Starting times are as normal – a soft start between 8.45 and 9.10 for the morning children and 12.15 in the afternoon. We look forward to seeing you all then.

Settling In

Eight new children have joined us this week and they are beginning to settle well into Nursery life. They are becoming familiar with the routines and are growing in confidence to try out a range of activities. We hope that our new families enjoy using our blog to get a feel for life in Hecklegirth Nursery and thought we would share these photos of some of the children enjoying their first few days. Thank you to those who have returned their permission slips so far. We would ask that those who have not yet done this, to return their slips next week. Once you given us permission, your child can appear here on the blog and you can see them at play.

Happy New Term

Tomorrow, Wednesday 6th January, will be the start of term and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again, along with the eight new children who will also be getting ready for their first day. We hope that they are excited to be starting Nursery and are looking forward to making new friends. No doubt everyone will make them feel welcome and we hope that this is the beginning of a happy experience for the children and their families.
Our morning session will have a soft start, as usual, between 8.45 and 9.10. The afternoon session will begin at 12.15. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Hello Miss Awde

Miss A2Do you remember this photo with the caption “Goodbye Miss Awde”? Well, we are delighted to say it’s now “Hello Miss Awde” as she is back with us as a permanent member of staff. Miss Awde was successful at interview for the one day a week post and will work as a Nursery Nurse on a Friday in the Sunshine Room. Children and staff alike are delighted to have Miss Awde back as part of our Nursery.

Welcome To Mrs. Bell

mrs bChildren in the Sunshine Room have been getting to know Mrs. Caroline Bell who is on placement with us as a teaching student from University of West of Scotland. Mrs. Bell will be based in the Sunshine Room for the next few weeks, although she has also enjoyed meeting the Rainbow children outdoors, and is looking forward to working with everyone. We hope that she has a happy time at Hecklegirth Nursery.

First Day

We hope that everyone enjoyed their first day in Nursery. It has been lovely for us to see all the familiar faces from last year and to begin to get to know our new children and their families.
We are able to share a few photos of the children at play today. Once we have blog permission slips returned from everyone, we will able to share more photos and examples of the children’s work here so please remember to return your form if you wish your child to be part of the blog. We hope that you will find this a valuable insight into the life of our Nursery and that you can use the blog to add comments about your child’s experience.
Simply click on the word “comment” under the title of this post if you wish to leave your comments. Please be aware that these will not appear immediately, as they are monitored by the administrator before publication, but you should see your comment within a day or two.
Thank you to all our parents for working with us to ensure a smooth and happy start for the children.

Start of Term

We are looking forward to seeing everyone when Nursery starts on Thursday. It will be lovely to see the children who are returning for their second year and to get to know all our new children and their families.

We would like to remind you that morning sessions have a soft start (8.45-9.10) and children finish at 11.55 unless staying for a full day session. Afternoon children all start at 12.15 and should be collected between 3.00 and 3.25. Children attending for a full day finish at 3.05.

Please remember that, if this is your child’s first time in Nursery, we suggest he/she comes initially for one hour to help him/her to settle in. Red and green groups have been allocated 9 – 10 a.m. or 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. depending on their session. Blue and yellow groups have been allocated 10.30 – 11.30 a.m.  or 2 – 3 p.m. Your child’s group is shown on the letter you received confirming his/her place in Nursery.

We hope that you enjoy the last few days of the holidays and look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Making New Friends

The family of one of our children who started this week has been looking at our blog:

“Brogan has settled in fine at nursery and seems to be enjoying his time here and also making new friends as well as playing and learning”

We are glad that Brogan is enjoying his start to Nursery life. Thank you for leaving us a comment. We hope that you continue to enjoy visiting the blog to see what’s happening in Nursery.
