Farmer’s Den

Please remember to meet us at Farmer’s Den tomorrow, Monday 19th June. Everyone can bring their teddy to keep them company while we have a rest from soft play. We will have a soft start to our morning session as usual between 8.45 and 9.10. We ask that you collect your children at 11.45. Afternoon children should arrive at 12.15 and can be collected between 3.00 and 3.15. There will be no charge to parents for this visit as the Hecklegirth Fundraisers have kindly offered to pay for our visit which is a very generous gesture. We hope that the children are looking forward to a fun session.

Nature Walks

The children from the Sunshine Room have been building their confidence in the wider environment recently by paying a few visits to the nature garden. As you can see, they have enjoyed exploring every aspect of it and collected various objects from nature to create their own works of art. We hope that you like their work as much as we do.

Fire Station Fun

Finlay’s family has been looking at the photos from the fire station:

“Finlay enjoyed his morning at the fire station and would like to be a firefighter when he grows up. Finlay said he laughed a lot when Mrs Gray soaked Mrs Kirkpatrick with the big hose!!😁”

Poor Mrs. Kirkpatrick, she really was soaked but it was an accident. The children did find it very funny.

Joshua H’s family liked the fire station photos too:

Joshua looks so happy sitting in the fire engine 😄.” and “Joshua looks like he had lots of fun here 😊”

That fire engine certainly put lots of smiles on the children’s faces.

Happy Children

Quinn’s family likes the photos of the children with the tractor and the lamb:

“These are fantastic photos. We hears lots about this visit. Love seeing our wee girl so happy at nursery. Xx”

They certainly were all very happy that day. If anyone uses Facebook, I think that Fiona has now put a selection of photos on the RHET Dumfries and Galloway page so you should be able to see them there.

Afternoon Fire Station Visit

As promised, here are photos of the afternoon children visiting the fire station last week. They all enjoyed lots of fun learning just like the morning children. Thank you so much to all the parents and grandparents who came with us on our visit – we appreciate your help and support.

Action Shot

Olivia’s family likes the photo of her trying out the hose at the fire station:

“What a great action shot! After initially being unsure about going to the fire station Olivia was delighted to tell us all about her go with the hose and her favourite part, poor Mrs Kirkpatrick getting soaked!! 😃”

We’re glad you enjoyed your visit Olivia and were confident to try out the hose. It was great fun for everyone.

Fire Station

After learning about different jobs in our community at the end of last term, we had one further exciting trip out last week when we visited the fire station. Fortunately the weather was very kind and we enjoyed a lovely walk there in the sunshine. As well as finding out about the job of a fire officer, the children took part in a road safety activity where they took on different roles of cars, lorries, buses and bikes as well as a police officer and lollipop person. This was a super new resource that the fire service have just acquired and was a great way to help the children think about how to stay safe.
They also got a close up view of all the equipment in a fire engine, learned what it is used for and put their hands to their ears as the siren was turned on. Of course, no visit to the fire station is complete without getting an opportunity to sit up in the fire engine and try out the big hose.
Huge thanks go to all the fire fighters who looked after us and made our visit such fun as well as to the parents who accompanied us – without parent helpers these trips out would not be possible. We hope that you enjoy these photos of the morning children and will post photos soon of our afternoon visit.

George the Lamb

Lily’s family has been looking at the photos of our RHET visit. They liked the photo of the girls on the tractor: “Aww lovely photo of Lily and Francesca!”

The photos with the lamb have also caught their eye:

“Lily has been telling me all about ‘George the lamb’ and how he gets milk from his mummy! She also says he’s 1month old??!”

I’m not sure that George is quite as young as that but he is a pet lamb still being looked after by Mrs. Ker.
