Alfie Comes To Visit

Alfie, an assistance dog, and his owner Mrs. Anne Eales came to visit us in Nursery recently to show us just how clever he is. Alfie helps Mrs. Eales with lots of jobs to make her life easier and both children and staff were amazed when they saw what he could do. He helped Mrs. Eales off with her coat by tugging at her sleeves, picked up things she had dropped, took her boot off and can even hand her purse to a shopkeeper.
We thought that Alfie was very clever and both he and Mrs. Eales were so patient with all the children explaining what his job involves. Thank you so much to you both, you must have been very tired by the time you had spoken to everyone. We really appreciated your visit and would like to thank you for your time.

Animals, Autumn And Art

The Rainbow Room visited the school nature area several times towards the end of term as part of their interest in animals as well as the changing season. As you can see, they all enjoyed listening to “Rumble in the Jungle” and then set off on a hunt to search for animals in the nature area which was very exciting.
After a tasty outdoor snack, the children talked about the signs around them that Autumn was on its way and gathered some evidence which they all shared in their discussion together about their findings.
Once back in Nursery, some of the children made super art work from their finds in our outdoor area which looks great displayed in the mud kitchen hanging from the shelter. Great teamwork and enthusiasm were evident from these children in this activity and we think that they must certainly have gone home tired that day.

Measuring And Counting

Measuring and counting are a big part of making playdough and some of the children are becoming very adept at following instructions to make their own dough. It’s much more fun to play with dough that you have made yourself and the children are very keen to follow the recipe and choose their own colours. Good listening and counting skills are developing with each batch that they make. Here is a little group of chefs busy at their work.

Literacy Posters

We hope that you have had time to look at our literacy posters which aim to give helpful, simple advice to support your child’s communication development. Thank you to those parents who helped us plan the format of the posters and to those who have kindly left us feedback on them in the form of post-it notes. We would appreciate any further comments to help us evaluate our work.
Please help yourself to a post-it note and add your comments – the posters are on display on the board near the Nursery entrance.

Exploring In Mud

Brooke’s family has been looking at the photos of the children’s ‘sticky mud game’:

“Brooke loves exploring in mud and getting messy so I can imagine how much fun this would of been for her, looks like a great game they have all created together. Well done everyone.”

It was a super game which kept them engaged for such a long time. Great teamwork!

Cooking Outdoors

The families of Joshua H. and Harvey M. have been looking at the photos of our outdoor cooking on the fire.

“Joshua’s face is full of concentration in this picture. He looks like he is listening & taking everything in. Thats what I like to see, Im so proud of him.”

“Looks like Harvey enjoyed making bread! Maybe he will test his new skills at home one day 😀”

The children really listened well at this activity – learning while having fun. Good luck with the bread making at home Harvey!
