Visits To School

The children who will soon be making the transition to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth have had a recent visit to the infant classrooms to get a taste of school life. As you can see, they settled in well and were confident to try out a range of activities. Thank you to Miss Campbell and Mrs. Mahon for making the Nursery children feel so welcome. They are looking forward to their next visit soon.

Strawberries, Raspberries And Yoghurt

Ellie’s family has left us a message on our post about the Big Pedal breakfast:

“Thank you for Ellie’s healthy Big Pedal breakfast. She loved the strawberries, raspberries and yogurt.”

It did look delicious! I’m glad that you enjoyed it Ellie and well done for bringing your bike to Nursery.

Super Buddies

We have had two lovely comments on our recent post about the Primary 6 buddies visiting Nursery. One is from a P6 pupil who said,
“I like playing with the tv and playing outside with the nursery children.”

Our other comment was from the parent of a buddy:
“Lovely picture. Scott really enjoys his visits to the nursery. Thank you.”

Thank you both for taking the time to look at our blog. It was great to hear from you. The Nursery children certainly love the visits from Primary 6 who are doing a super job.

Hallowe’en Disco

We would like to remind you about our Hallowe’en disco tomorrow 30th October. Nursery children can attend from 6.00 until 7.00 and should have an adult stay with them. Hecklegirth Fundraisers use money raised to support events and buy resources to support all children in our school and Nursery so we hope that they got lots of families joining in this event.
Please remember that the children may dress up for Nursery on Wednesday for Hallowe’en if they wish but this is optional.

Sunshine P.E.

We love going for P.E. with Mrs. Foster, our P.E. teacher, and she enjoys having the Nursery as part of her school sessions. Usually we do all our learning in the school hall but recently Mrs. Foster has been taking us out into the sunshine to develop our skills which has been a lovely change. Here is one of our sessions where the children are learning to jump and to control a hoop in different ways – what a great fun learning experience!

Buddies

Enid’s family has been looking of the photos of the Primary 6 buddies meeting our children’s families:

“Really lovely to have the opportunity to meet Enids buddy Katy, Enid is very fond of her. I think it’s a great idea to buddy the nursery children up with a P6 pupil, I think it will really help Enid settle into school.”

Thank you for your kind comment. We are certainly very impressed with our buddies and think that they will make a big difference to the children as they move to Primary 1.

Barbecue

Please remember our barbecue tomorrow night (6 – 8pm) organised by Hecklegirth Fundraisers. There are lots of fun activities for the family and money raised is used to benefit all the children in our school.

It is thanks to this hardworking group that all our Nursery children will have a free outing to Farmer’s Den soon to celebrate the end of our year so we hope that lots of our families will be able to support this event.
