Hallowe’en Disco

We hope to see lots of Nursery children at the HFA’s Hallowe’en Fancy Dress Disco tomorrow night (29.10.15) between 6 and 7p.m when Nursery and Primary 1 children will be able to have lots of fun together. There will be games, a tuck shop, dookin’ for apples and prizes for the best dressed pupil as well as the disco. Please remember that parents must accompany their children. We look forward to seeing you there.

Dingle Dangle Scarecrows

The work on Autumn Flower and Princess Rosie, our two scarecrows, motivated some of the children to create scarecrow pictures in the craft area of Nursery. They used a range of materials to create their own design and produced individual and creative pieces of artwork. A selection of the children’s work is on display in the school corridor, as we wanted to share their great ideas, so keep an eye out for them if you are near the school office.

Superheroes

Nursery turned into a world of superheroes on Friday as the children dressed up in various outfits to support Primary 2’s Superhero Day in aid of the charity Shelter. Thank you to all those parents who took the time to help their children dress up and for your kind donations. Nursery raised £24.02 to add to Primary 2’s collection which will be much appreciated.

Callum’s Sunflower

Callum paid a visit to Nursery today from Primary 1 to show us photos of the sunflower he had grown from the seed he planted in Nursery last term. As you can see, he has looked after his sunflower very well and has shown great gardening skills to grow his plant to an enormous seven feet two inches which we reckon converts to 2.18 metres.
Well done Callum for showing super growing skills and thank you very much for bringing your photos to show us. I wonder if anyone else has photos of their sunflowers grown from the seed planted in Nursery?

Nursery and Primary 7 Conga

At the end of last week Primary 7 went out to Beat the Street with some of the Nursery children. If you click on the link to Hecklegirth Primary School on the right, then click on the Primary 7 page you will see them doing the conga to make it even more fun to beep their cards.
Thank you Primary 7. The Nursery children had great fun.

Award Winner

Sophie’s family is delighted to see her photo with the award she received for being a super team worker:

“sophie was chuffed to bits to win this award we are all very proud of her we have her photo blown up and put onto the wall, she will miss all her nursery teachers very much but is really looking forward to starting p1”

Well done Sophie – you really deserved this award. We will miss all those moving to Primary 1 too but hope that we will see you at some point in the future.

Skills For School

We hope that those who attended the Family Learning “Skills For School” workshop today found it helpful to prepare their children for Primary 1. Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, will be running another session tomorrow (9.6.15). Check for spaces on the noticeboard in the corridor if you have not yet signed up and would like to take part.

Medals and Ice Lollies

We would like to thank everyone who came to cheer the children on their Fun Activity Day despite chilly weather. We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of them all as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. Those medals and ice lollies were certainly well deserved and we hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really were ‘confident individuals’. Thank you also to the ‘responsible citizens’ of Primary 6 and 7/6 who were super helpers on the day. Here are some photos from the morning event. The afternoon photos will be posted soon.
