We would like to thank you all for bearing with us in the recent disruption caused by a leaking pipe in Nursery. Our group texts were sent as soon as we were aware of the situation and hopefully kept everyone informed. We ask that anyone who had problems with our communication please speaks to us, so that we can ensure we are always doing the best we can for all our families, rather than posting on social media which is not so easy to respond to. We are happy to listen to any concerns or suggestions you may have.
The Sunshine Room children thoroughly enjoyed their temporary Nursery in the school hall and responded well to the change of environment. As you can see from the photos below, they accessed a wide range of activities and took all the changes in their stride with confidence. Thank you again for your patience and support over the past week.

Kenzie’s Mum has been looking at the photos of the ghosts the children made in Primary 1:
“Kenzie loves her ghost, still got it at home. Loves scaring everyone who comes to visit.”
Well done Kenzie for looking after your ghost. I hope your visitors aren’t too scared.
Leah’s Dad enjoyed the outdoor play and party photos:
“Leah enjoying her snack and looking great as usual!” and “Leah having a fantastic time playing with her pals outside”.
Thank you both for taking the time to leave comments.
Dylan’s Ghost
Another parent has left a comment about the children’s visit to Primary 1 for craft activities:
“Dylan really enjoyed his visit to p1, he said he was a big school boy and he loved making his ghost and scaring his sister with it.”
We’re glad you had a good time Dylan.
Ghosts and Pumpkins
Two of our families enjoyed the photos of our Hallowe’en crafts in Primary 1:
“Aww, Thom fair enjoyed his visit, he told us all about it and we loved his ghost.”
“Brilliant ghosts everyone” (Kacey’s Mum)
Thank you for leaving us a comment. The children certainly had great fun making their ghosts and pumpkins.
Nursery and Primary 1 Hallowe’en Fun
Great fun was had last week with Early Years Hallowe’en activities. Primary 1 visited Nursery to decorate biscuits and Nursery children enjoyed craft activities in the Primary 1 classrooms. This was a great opportunity to build the confidence of the children to work in different environments and with different people. As you can see, they got right into the Hallowe’en spirit. Thank you Mrs. Lindsay and Miss Campbell for welcoming the Nursery children into your classrooms.
Move Up Fun
Move Up afternoon seems to have been a great success for those Nursery children moving to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth. If you click on the link to the school website on the right you will be able to see some super photos of the children in their new classrooms. Simply click on the Primary 1 and Primary 2/1 links once on the school blog.
The children were keen to tell us all about their exciting afternoon – here are some of their comments.
Theo: I liked playing with the garage mat and cars with the girls.
Joe: I liked the stories Miss Campbell was reading.
Zander: I liked everything. Painting was the best.
Suzie: it was brilliant. Miss Campbell is very kind.
Conan: One of the girls was reading loads of books to me and Mrs. Lindsay was helping everybody.
Jessica: I liked the play dough.
Niamh: I liked Miss Campbell. She was helping me with drawing.
Charlie: I liked the beanbags – you needed to find a letter on them.
Mikey: it was good for drawing.
Isaac: I played on the Wii.
Keira M.: I liked best of all playing with the hospital and the train set.
Callum: we read a book about a woman that swallowed a fly. Mrs. Lindsay’s good.
Fay: it was fun. I liked all the new things.
School Lunch
Children moving to several local schools had an opportunity this week to sample a school lunch. At Hecklegirth parents joined their children who enjoyed hot dogs and chips or a delicious sandwich along with fruit or a little bag of vegetables. The ice-cream and jelly dessert looked particularly tasty and seemed to go down well with most children. Hopefully, everyone now knows what happens in the dinner hall and is looking forward to their school lunches when they come to Primary 1 in August.
Graduation Invitations
Mrs. Alexander and Mr. Palmer were both delighted to receive graduation invitations recently from Nursery children. Lots of them had made a contribution to the cards, either through drawings or writing and they looked super. We look forward to seeing everyone at graduation on Tuesday. Please remember to return your slip indicating how many seats you would like to ensure that the hall is set up for everyone.
Special Snack
Last week the children enjoyed snack in the dinner hall. We all liked the sound and smell of the lunches that Mrs. Martin was preparing although we made do with a drink and yoghurt for our first visit. It won’t be long until some of you are enjoying the delicious school lunches every day boys and girls.
Primary 1 Visits
Callum’s family enjoyed seeing our photos in Primary 1:
“Lovely to see Callum enjoying his visit to P1.”
All the children who have paid a visit to Primary 1 seemed to have enjoyed it. We hope to have lots more visits this term and next so that we continue to build the children’s confidence.
