The children moving to Hecklegirth P1 in August had some exciting times lately when they visited the school playground. Their Primary 6 buddies ensured that all the children were confident and happy to try out the different areas of the playground, the field and the timber trails. It was wonderful to see how much the children had grown in confidence thanks to some super support from their buddies.
Hopefully we will soon enjoy another visit to the playground when the rest of the school is out playing. Well done P6 buddies! You are doing a super job!

Life In Primary 1
The children who will soon be making the transition to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth had a visit recently to the P1 classrooms to get a taste of school life. As you can see, they settled in well and were confident to try out a range of activities. Thank you to Mrs. Lindsay and Miss Campbell, as well as all their children, for making the Nursery children feel so welcome.

Great Photos
Ava’s family has been looking at the photos of the children enjoying Big Pedal Fun Day:
“Ava really enjoyed the big pedal fun day. She was telling all the family all about it. Great photos of all the children.”
It’s lovely to hear that Ava enjoyed herself. I hope that you can get out on your scooter in the holidays Ava.
Big Pedal Fun Day
The last day of term was Big Pedal Fun Day for everyone at Hecklegirth as the children brought bikes and scooters to participate in great fun activities in the school playground under the guidance of some super volunteers. Despite the very windy weather, the children showed great confidence and enthusiasm to try out the challenges set for them. Thank you to everyone who helped to organise this event and gave up their own time. The children had super fun and what a great way to keep fit and healthy. Let’s hope that they can have lots of fun in the holidays on their bikes and scooters.
Here are the morning children in action. Photos of the afternoon children will follow in the next day or two.
Harvey Loves Stories
Harvey M’s family has been looking at the photos of the children visiting the Book Fair in the school library:
“Nice to see Harvey enjoying reading the books and visiting the library for world book day! He keeps us busy every night getting us to read 5 stories before bed!”
Wow Harvey! You are a very lucky boy getting five stories before bed. We will be posting photos of the children on World Book Day soon.
Book Fair Visit
Book Fair
Don’t forget that the school book fair is on in the school library all week and parents can call in every day between 3.00 and 3.30. Nursery children will also go together for a look at the books on offer on Wednesday.
Coffee Morning
Primary 3 recently held a coffee morning in aid of Save the Children. Here are some of the Nursery children, who brought money to support this event, enjoying their coffee morning in the school dinner hall.
Little Visitors
Mrs. Mahon, the Primary 2 teacher, enjoyed seeing the photos of the children who visited her classroom to make ice homes:
“Lovely seeing P2 working so nicely with our little visitors! Come back again soon!”
Thank you for inviting us and thank you to the Primary 2 children for looking after our little Nursery group – great teamwork everyone.
