Autumn Flower

Autumn Flower is the name of the scarecrow created by the children in the Rainbow Room and they have chosen well, considering the ideas they used to make her. As we have been learning about Autumn, they decided to make a scarecrow that looked like Autumn.
There were problems to be solved, such as how to stick the poles together to make a body, how to get the shape for the scarecrow’s clothes and what to use for a head. There was great fun drawing round Mrs. Gray, decorating the dress with handprints and making the face which changed, from the original plan of a ball of bubble wrap covered in material, to an upside down bucket which we liked. It was great to see so many children contributing their ideas and skills to make their scarecrow. We hope that everyone likes Autumn Flower.

The Sunshine Scarecrow

You may have noticed some unexpected visitors in the Nursery cloakrooms today. These ladies are the scarecrows which the children made as part of a whole school activity prior to our Harvest celebrations next Friday. As you can see, The Sunshine Room decided to go for a patchwork theme and, after an all important vote, have called their scarecrow Princess Rosie. Here are some photos of the work in progress as different children made their contribution to their room’s scarecrow. Well done boys and girls for working so well together. The Rainbow Room’s creation will appear here soon.
