Buddies Meet Our Families

Primary 6 buddies are making such a good job of building relationships with their new little friends that our children are growing in confidence every time they visit Primary 1 or the school playground.
The buddies very kindly took the time to write letters to their Nursery child’s family so that they know a little about them and they have recently introduced themselves to their parents/carers. We hope that this has eased any of the worries you may have had about your child moving to Primary 1 and that you enjoy sharing the letters with your children.
Thank you Primary 6 children for doing a super job. You certainly are responsible citizens and effective contributors!

Beautiful Butterflies

Over the past few weeks we have followed the progress of our caterpillars as they have grown and formed their cocoons then finally we saw our beautiful butterflies emerging in their nets this week. It has been an exciting process for the children and some were ready with their cameras to capture images of the newly hatched butterflies who seem to be enjoying the oranges and sugary water we are feeding them. There is certainly no shortage of concerned children keeping a check on them every day.

Willow Work

The afternoon children can be seen here carrying out an important task to help look after our garden. They were recently in charge of spraying the willow tunnel with soapy water in the hope that this discourages the wasps from settling there. What super work you did boys and girls. Well done for looking after our Nursery environment.

Playground Visits

The children moving to Hecklegirth P1 in August had some exciting times lately when they visited the school playground. Their Primary 6 buddies ensured that all the children were confident and happy to try out the different areas of the playground, the field and the timber trails. It was wonderful to see how much the children had grown in confidence thanks to some super support from their buddies.
Hopefully we will soon enjoy another visit to the playground when the rest of the school is out playing. Well done P6 buddies! You are doing a super job!

Little Visitors

A very interesting parcel appeared in Nursery recently and the children were excited to find that some little caterpillars had arrived to spend time with us. As we were already learning about life cycles, most of them have made good predictions about what might happen to our little visitors. We had a good look at them when they arrived and the children have been keen to follow their progress, checking their size most days. Everyone is looking forward to the next stage happening soon as they have grown quite big.

Zumba

Zumba was our Health Week taster activity on Monday afternoon and the children thoroughly enjoyed their session with Mrs. Menzies. Most listened very well and were able to make a good attempt to follow her moves. Thank you to Mrs. Menzies for all your hard work and patience. We think that you must have been very tired doing zumba all day – some of the children were tired after just one session.

Fun in the Sun

It seemed too good to be true that the sun decided to shine on our Fun Activity Day, after a rather wet start to Health Week, but we were very grateful for the lucky weather. Thank you so much to all family and friends who took the time to cheer on the children today, as well as the buddies of Primary 6 who were great helpers and supporters of the children both morning and afternoon.
We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of them all as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. We managed to capture photos of some of the children with those well deserved medals and an ice lolly finished off our day nicely. We hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really showed yourselves to be ‘confident individuals’.
