Read, Write, Count

read-right-count-logoWe would like to share some great ideas from the Scottish government on a site called “Read, Write, Count”. As a parent or carer, you’re the most important teacher in your child’s life. In fact, research shows that when parents help their child with learning outside of school, the children do better with things like reading and counting. This is a site with ideas to make it easy for parents to bring fun and learning into everyday activities. Whether it’s in the supermarket, on the way to school, at bedtime or sitting down for a meal, “Read, Write, Count” has lots of simple ideas that put smiles on children’s faces while giving them the best start in life. We hope that you have fun with your child using some of these great ideas. Click on the link on the right to “Read, Write, Count” under the heading “Useful Reading”.

Luca’s Tree

treeThe Rainbow Room now has a lovely tree on display thanks to Luca’s family. They very kindly brought us materials for the children to make their own handprints to form the leaves of a tree to display in their room and we think that it looks great.
Huge thanks to Luca’s family for your kind gift – the children have been showing great interest in looking for their names on the tree and it certainly brightens up our door.
Can you spot your hand boys and girls?

Thank You

Thank you to all those children and their families who kindly donated to our Harvest collection. We feel sure that all the food will be much appreciated by Annan Food Bank. Many thanks also to Rev. McGougan for joining us in Nursery for our Harvest celebration.
We really appreciated your fantastic support in providing a wonderful audience for the children today. It was a lovely opportunity for us all to gather together to celebrate Harvest and we hope that you enjoyed the children’s performance as much as they seemed to. One of our aims is to develop ‘confident individuals’ and many of our children showed themselves to be exactly that in their performance. Well done boys and girls!

Autumn Flower

Two of our families have commented on how much they like the Rainbow Room’s “Autumn Flower” scarecrow. Ben’s Mum said:

“I think Autumn Flower is a fantastic scarecrow. I love your ideas, very creative. Looks like you had great fun making it.”

Dylan’s Mum thought Autumn Flower was super too:

“Wow! I think all the boys and girls have made a fantastic job of creating Autumn Flower, she looks amazing you can see how well they have worked together, and how much fun they all had in the process, well done everybody xxx”

It was great fun and so many children contributed to designing and making the scarecrow that it really is a super example of teamwork. Well done everyone!

Family Comments

Wareesha’s grandfather enjoyed the photos of everyone dressed up for Superhero Day:

“A colourful day. Beautiful dresses.”

Paulina’s family is also pleased with the photo of her with her certificate:

“Well done our big girl. We are so proud of you x”

It’s great to hear that our families are accessing the blog and we love to hear your comments.

Harvest

Rev. McGougan is looking forward to joining us for our Harvest celebration on Friday at 11.30 for the morning children and at 2.30 in the afternoon. This is an informal gathering in the Nursery and all family members are welcome. Please remember to return the slip to let us know how many adults will attend. Any donations of dried food stuffs can be donated on or before Friday and will be handed in to Annan Food Bank – thank you to those families who have already kindly donated to this worthy cause. As you can see, the children have been learning two new songs and are looking forward to performing them to their families. We look forward to seeing lots of you there.

Thank You

Two families have left comments on our recent photos.
Luca’s Dad was delighted with his certificate:

“Well done big guy, daddy very proud of you”

Wareesha’s grandfather was impressed with the photo of her contributing to the creation of our scarecrow and left a lovely comment:

“Very creative activity. All the staff members are very helpful and encouraging. I appreciate.”

Thank you both for leaving us a comment. It’s great to know that our families are accessing the blog and we love to hear your comments.
