We would like to thank Luca’s family for all the lovely art and craft activities that they donated to us recently. Lots of the children have been enjoying the Christmas crafts over the past week and have been taking great care when making decorations. Here are a few of the children busy at work, producing some great decorations for our Nursery tree and for their trees at home. Thank you Luca – everyone is enjoying your kind gifts.

Well Done Finlay
Finlay’s family is delighted with his recent award:
“We are all so proud of Finlay and his certificate for super shape work. Well done!”
We are proud of you too Finlay and you certainly deserved your certificate.
Thank You Grace and Kacey
Open Day
This Thursday, December 3rd, we are having an Open Day for the whole school from 9.00 to 6.00 and we would encourage you to take this opportunity to have a chat to staff and a look in your child’s special book if you have not already done so. As we have indicated previously, your contributions are very valuable as these books are a shared document between the child, parents and Nursery staff.
Why not also take this opportunity to have a look around the school beyond the Nursery rooms, particularly if you are considering a move to Primary 1 with us next year? We hope that this is a helpful event, particularly for working parents who may find it difficult to visit Nursery and school during our usual opening hours, and look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
Sunshine Stories
After missing their initial visit to Annan library two weeks ago due to poor weather conditions, the children in the Sunshine Room finally got their chance to visit the library on Monday. They displayed super behaviour and listened well to the stories that Tina had chosen for them. Thank you to the kind Mummy, Daddy and Granny who made our trip possible by coming with us. We look forward to our next visit soon.
Well Done Mollie
Mollie’s family is delighted with her recent certificate:
“Mummy and Daddy are so proud of you Mollie! Well done!”
We are not surprised that your family is proud of you Mollie. Keep up the good work.
Annan Lights Santa Dash
The annual Santa Dash will take place on Sunday 6th December at 1.30pm at the Everholm running track. Any local organisation is invited to take part to raise funds for their own cause. All we need to do is register, raise sponsorship and get as many kids and families to take part from Hecklegirth School. You can walk it, jog it, run it or cycle- distances to suit all abilities so everyone is welcome. Whatever we raise we keep so let’s get together and make a difference!
If any Nursery parents would like to take part please see Mrs Alexander, Mrs Hamilton or any of the Nursery staff who can get you a sponsor sheet. Money raised will be used towards our new Mastery of Maths resources for the primary and numeracy and outdoor learning games for Nursery to help raise attainment for all!
Children In Need Photos
Kacey’s Mum liked our photos from the Children in Need non-uniform day:
“Wow everyone looks great. Lovely picture girls!”
It was lovely to see the children in all their different outfits and great to be able to make a contribution to a good cause.
Fun Story Telling
Owen’s Dad went to the Annan library with us on our first visit and left a comment to say how much he enjoyed it.
“Lovely morning spent with the kids at the library, the kids were very well mannered and well behaved. Owen really enjoyed the stories, Marion told them really well, she made it fun!”
We agree that Marion is a great storyteller. Thank you very much for coming with us. We hope that you’ll be free another Monday to join us. Well done boys and girls for being so polite and well behaved – we were very proud of you.
Ben’s Library Visit
Ben’s family has been looking at the photos of our recent library visit:
“Ben really enjoyed visiting the library with his nursery friends and teachers. In the holidays he likes to stay at his Grandma’s house in Waterbeck because the library van stops right outside her house and he gets to go in the van and choose some books.”
That sounds really exciting Ben! What a lovely treat when you’re at Grandma’s house to have the library come to you.
