Lots of Fun

Olivia’s Mummy has been looking at our photos of the children practising for today’s Fun Activity Day:

“I have loved hearing about your fun activity day from Olivia and she has been practising with her daddy!! It sounds lots of fun! Unfortunately I am working tomorrow but looking forward to seeing all the photographs. I am sure all the boys and girls will have a fab day and I will cross my fingers for some sunshine! :)”

Let’s hope the rain stays away all day so that we can enjoy all our activities.

The Solihull Approach

I have added useful reading and information for parents on The Solihull Approach which is all about the health and wellbeing of our children. Here you can access a range of leaflets on topics such as developmental and emotional milestones, play and brain development through childhood which can help you to understand and support your child’s behaviour.
Click on the links on the right entitled “Solihull Approach Parenting Skills” and “Solihull Approach Understanding Childhood” which can be found under “Useful Reading”. We hope that you find this information helpful.

Wonderful Trip

Paulina’s Mum left a comment about our visit to the police station:

“Thank you I could be a part of this wonderful trip to the police. It was very lovely time with children. Monika (Paulina’s mum)”

Thank you very much for coming with us. We couldn’t manage trips out to our community without all our parent helpers.

Police Visit

Thom’s family has been looking at our photos at the police station:

“We had a fabulous time at the police station, so pleased i could come along too. Thom liked the handcuffs best, he was amazed the Policeman let us look at them! All the Staff were brilliant with the children. Thom has been looking out for the cctv cameras in town and waving at the police!”

Thanks for helping us that day – it’s always lovely to have parents with us. There seemed to be a few children who enjoyed trying out the handcuffs. I wonder if the police officers have seen you waving Thom? I’m sure it will make their day if they do.

Garden Delivery

Thom’s family has been looking at the photos of the children busy with the new bark in the garden:

“Thom was very keen to show me the big blue bag when we walked past it on our way home, I notice though he wasn’t there to help with the hard work! I’m surprised as he usually likes getting mucky! We happened to be passing when the truck brought the next bag and he was very pleased the driver waved to us.”

Lots of the children have been helping to spread the next delivery as part of their play. What started out as a little hill of bark is slowly being dug, raked and spread to make a much improved base for our digging area so well done to all those children who have been helping out.

Sharing Your Learning

colour5Summer’s family has been having a look at the photos of the children mixing colours outdoors:

“This will explain why Summer has started mixing all the paint together at home! I thought she was just being messy when actually she is learning. Summer is also enjoying learning the first letter of words which you have been doing in nursery, it has become her favourite game. She says the letter ‘s’ then names all the words she knows beginning with the letter. We are impressed!”

Well done Summer! It sounds like you’ve been sharing lots of your learning at home with your family.

Recent Events

Dylan’s family has been looking at some of our recent posts on the visit to church and the Big Pedal Week:

“Dylan really enjoyed his visit to the church, he fair talked about when he went up the steps with Luca and the bird garden that he saw x”

“This(Big Pedal Week) has been a great idea, was great to see so many children and parents out on their bikes and scooters, taking part, it has certainly encouraged Dylan to be out on his bike more and helping build his confidence x”

It’s great to hear that Dylan has been enjoying recent events in Nursery. It was lovely to see lots of bikes and scooters being brought in that week. Let’s hope that lots of you keep up with your cycling and scooting especially as the warmer weather hopefully starts to appear. The more you practise the better you get.

Picnic Snack

Olivia’s family has been looking at the photos of the children having snack outdoors recently:

“Olivia loved having a ‘picnic snack’ as she called it!”

It seems so strange that we were eating outdoors in the sunshine last week and yesterday the children were all out trying to catch hailstones in boxes as they played. Let’s hope that we are back to ‘picnic snack’ soon.
