The lovely weather this week has been a great incentive to get out and about with the Nursery children to take part in the Beat the Street campaign as part of the Scottish Government’s Smarter Choices Smarter Places initiative. As you can see, the children have enjoyed taking a walk to tap the Beat Boxes close to Nursery and have managed to earn points along the way. We hope that you are all joining in with this great Health and Wellbeing event with your families too.

Outdoor Fun
We’re pleased to see that it’s not only parents but grandparents too who enjoy seeing what the children do in Nursery:
“It’s great to see my wee granddaughter Grace having outdoor fun with her friends x”
Thanks for leaving us a comment. So many children in Nursery just love outdoor play.
Digging Is Fun
Peter and his Mum have been looking at our photos in the Nursery garden:
“Peter’s digging up the road with his big digger.”
He certainly did a bit of digging that day. It was hard work but good fun. Thank you for your comment.
Outdoor Fun
Most of the children have taken the opportunity this week to explore the outdoor area so they are learning to change their shoes and put on outdoor suits. Some have developed their confidence on the big climbing frame, others have been off on a distant adventure on the train, practising their ball skills or making great concoctions in the mud kitchen. The garden is also a great place to make new friends as the children from both rooms play together and, as you can see, it is a very popular area of Nursery.

Having A Ball
Lewis’ family has been having a look at the photos from our trip to Dino Park:
“Lewis looks like he’s loving every second of Dino Park! What a wonderful day he had.”
“Thank you for organising such a fun day! Lewis had a ball!”
Thank you for your kind comment. I think we all thoroughly enjoyed our little outing.
Daily Kilometre
Children about to move to Primary 1 at Hecklegirth have been developing their fitness with their Primary 6 buddies over the last few weeks. Initially they began by walking round the school field once and, as they have progressed, many are now able to walk three times round the field which Primary 6 measured to be a kilometre. Everyone taking part has improved the distance they have been able to cover so well done to all of you.
Flowers
Callum’s family enjoyed the photos of the children planting flowers:
“Callum has told us about the flower planting. He loves helping his grandad in his garden.”
You did a good job Callum. You must have learned lots from Grandad.
Flower Planting
Mollie’s Mum enjoyed the photos of the children planting flowers:
“What a lovely idea to plant flowers! Mollie loves growing things, we are growing our own veg at our allotment! Thank you Mrs Alexander for the flower pots. The flowers look great!”
Mollie certainly seemed to know how to plant flowers and the children were pleased with the results of their work. They are keen to look after them too so hopefully they should look lovely all summer.
Pretty Flowers All In A Row
As well as planting sunflowers to take home, we have been planting in the Nursery garden to brighten it up. Mrs. Alexander kindly gave us four flower pots which inspired us to add to the display in our raised bed. The afternoon children were enthusiastic to join in and help and, as you can see, they made a good job of preparing the soil then choosing which plants they wanted where. Have a look in the garden to see what you think of their hard work.
Great Teamwork
Like the morning children, the afternoon children participated in our Fun Activity Day with great enthusiasm. They worked well in their teams and displayed good skills and motivation to do their best. Thank you again to everyone who came along to cheer the children on – we all appreciate your support.
