Fun in the Sun

It seemed too good to be true that the sun decided to shine on our Fun Activity Day, after a rather wet start to Health Week, but we were very grateful for the lucky weather. Thank you so much to all family and friends who took the time to cheer on the children today, as well as the buddies of Primary 6 who were great helpers and supporters of the children both morning and afternoon.
We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of them all as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. We managed to capture photos of some of the children with those well deserved medals and an ice lolly finished off our day nicely. We hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really showed yourselves to be ‘confident individuals’.

Fun Activity Day

The children have been practising their running and jumping skills to prepare for our Fun Activity Day tomorrow (Wednesday). They have grown in confidence, shown good teamwork and had great fun. We are looking forward to lots of families and friends cheering the children on as they show you what they can do. We hope to bring them on to the field around 9.30 and 2.00 when they will start moving round their activities.
It is quite tricky to get photos of the children practising their activities as they move so quickly but here is a taster of what they will be doing on our Fun Activity Day. We hope that the children remember how to do their activities as they have not had the opportunity to practise since Thursday due to inclement weather. Fingers crossed that the sun decides to shine tomorrow.

Great Fun

Isaac’s family has been looking at the photos of the morning children taking part in the Ankle Biters activity:

“Isaac had a great time “doing sporty things” in the hall today.”

We’re glad that you had fun Isaac. All the children seemed to enjoy themselves yesterday and we had more activities today. We are going to be so fit and healthy by the end of the week.

Ankle Biters

The start of Health Week did not exactly bring great weather for outdoor activities but, not to be outdone by a bit of rain, our session with Ankle Biters went ahead this morning in the dining hall. As you can see, the children still had great fun learning basic rugby skills so thank you to the ladies who organised the activities. More fun learning will be happening as the week progresses.

Hecklegirth Health Week

We would like to remind everyone that this week, 15th to 19th May, is Health Week at Hecklegirth so the children will be taking part in several exciting activities that have been arranged for us. As some of these events will be outdoors, please ensure that your child has suitable footwear and clothes with them for whatever the weather brings to be able to fully enjoy what is on offer. We are unsure whether this will mean suncream and hats or warm jumpers but we want to make sure that everyone has great fun learning about a healthy lifestyle.

Spring Walk To School Week

Next week is “Spring Walk to School Week” running from Monday 15th to Friday 19th May. The underlying intention of the initiative is to encourage pupils to walk to school or actively travel by bike, scooter etc. where it is safe to do so.
Junior Road Safety Officers in our school will be collecting numbers of those walking or travelling actively. Dumfries and Galloway Council is keen to promote this activity throughout the region and we hope that lots of Nursery children take part next week, particularly as it will be a whole school and Nursery Health Week.
