Nursery Rules

The children have been talking about rules in Nursery and why we need rules. You could ask them at home if they can remember what we agreed on. Here are some of the children showing us the rules to help everyone remember them.

Outdoor Fun

Most of the children have taken the opportunity this week to explore the outdoor area so they are learning to change their shoes and put on outdoor suits. Some have developed their confidence on the big climbing frame, others have been off on a distant adventure on the train, practising their ball skills or making great concoctions in the mud kitchen. The garden is also a great place to make new friends as the children from both rooms play together and, as you can see, it is a very popular area of Nursery.

Settling In

We hope that you are all looking forward to attending full Nursery sessions this week. If your child takes a little while to feel comfortable, please allow him/her time to take things at their pace: we, as adults, cope with change in different ways and at different rates and children are exactly the same. If you have any concerns about your child, please speak to staff who can offer you advice based on their experiences.

Here are a few more photos of the children getting to know their new environment. If you would like to leave a comment please click on “Comments” under the post title of “Settling In” – we would certainly appreciate your contributions.

Super Team Workers

Congratulations to our proud award winners who were chosen as the best team workers in their respective classes. Staff found it very difficult to make a final choice of who should be the winners, as there were lots of potential candidates for this award, but we feel that these pupils are worthy recipients of the annual trophy presented by Mrs. Alexander. Very well done to you both and keep up the good work in Primary 1.

Graduation Day Take Two

Just as in the morning, the afternoon children showed themselves to be confident individuals at their graduation ceremony on Tuesday and we loved the happy smiles on everybody’s face. We would like to thank Mr. Palmer for presenting the children with their certificates and for taking the time to ensure that every family was able to get a photo of their child on stage. Thank you also to all the family and friends who formed a great audience – we really appreciate your support.

Graduation Day

How proud we all were of the children at our graduation ceremonies yesterday as they sang and danced to celebrate their achievements this year in Nursery. The morning children looked particularly  grown-up in the fantastic caps that Theo’s Mum kindly made for every single child. No doubt these will be fond mementos to keep as a reminder of a special day so huge thanks to Theo’s Mummy for all her hard work.

The children showed great confidence to perform to their families and then to walk on stage on their own to shake hands and receive their certificates. Thank you to Mrs. Alexander for taking time to present each child with their award – we think her knees must have been very sore by the end of the day. Thank you also to all the family and friends who attended our little ceremony and for your support throughout the year.

Here is a gallery of the morning children. I will put photos of the afternoon children on as soon as possible. Click the click again for a clearer view of the photos.

Thank You Buddies

Mrs. Alexander enjoyed our post on the daily kilometre that Nursery children and their buddies have been doing:

“Thank you buddies for helping Nursery pupils be more active in school. It really is making a difference and showing our youngest pupils the importance of keeping fit.”

Everyone seems to be improving their fitness with this activity. Well done to Primary 6 and Nursery pupils.
