The afternoon boys and girls have been asking for a little while if we could have another fire but the weather seems to have been against us each time we have planned to do it so we decided last week to experiment with a fire under our outdoor canopy. As you can see, this was a great success and it was lovely to make toast on the fire while the rain trickled down on the canopy roof. It’s amazing how many pieces of toast were made that day and the thick slathering of jam seemed to make it particularly tasty.

Award Winners
Congratulations to last week’s wonderful award winners. What lovely smiles.
Fingers, Forks and Chopsticks
For all the super resources we have which the children love to choose and explore, sometimes a sensory experience can be the best activity of all. The children have loved experimenting with the tray of spaghetti this week, producing some super vocabulary to describe it and developing their fine motor control as they explore it with their fingers, forks and chopsticks. We hope that you like these action shots of some of the morning children in spaghetti action.
Proud Family
Georgia’s family likes the photo of her with her certificate:
“Aww my girl so proud”
She certainly looks pleased with her achievement. Well done!
Derek the Paramedic
As we begin to learn about our community and the jobs we can grow up to do there, the morning children had an exciting visit from ‘Derek the Paramedic’, also known as Harper’s Papa. The children enjoyed finding out about the equipment he uses in his job and Derek listened very patiently to stories of medical situations the children had experienced as we tried to work out when we need an ambulance. They were also excited to see all the equipment inside the ambulance which he kindly brought to Nursery and, of course, the blue light and siren were great highlights of the visit.
Thank you so much to Harper’s Papa for taking the time to talk to the children about his job and for showing them inside an ambulance which he hopes should make it less worrying for a child if they ever need to use one for a trip to the hospital.

The photo of Owen joining in with the other children on the stage was another favourite:
