Pumpkin Investigation

It wouldn’t be Hallowe’en without investigating a pumpkin and some of the children had a busy time last week emptying the flesh and seeds from their pumpkin. Both morning and afternoon children had a great experience investigating what they found inside their pumpkin, discussing safety around sharp knives, counting seeds and talking about how to describe what they could see and feel. Great fun was then had decorating their empty lanterns. It’s amazing the learning you can have from one simple pumpkin.

Hallowe’en Party Fun

Thanks to everyone for dressing the children in their super outfits for our Hallowe’en parties last week. We dooked for apples, caught marshmallows with our teeth, played lots of games and enjoyed party food together. It was lovely to see how confident the children have become, with children from both rooms happy to have fun together. We hope you can get a flavour of the parties from our photos.

Hallowe’en Comments

Two more of our parents have been enjoying the Hallowe’en photos:

“What a scary bunch you have in nursery!”

“Lovely photo of the yellow group in their outfits, everyone made a great effort and Sophie had a fantastic time. we also liked the photo in the paper of her with her winning pumpkin :-))
Thanks!”

Thank you for taking the time to comment. There were some scary faces that day and it was great that everyone made such an effort.

We Enjoyed Hallowe’en

Several parents have posted comments about our Hallowe’en party photos.

“Dylan looks so happy to be wearing his hat! All the kids costumes looked great, looks like they had a lot of fun”

“What great fun you all had! My child really enjoyed the party!”

“sophie.s. really enjoyed Halloween loved dressing up and really enjoyed the nursery party she also really enjoyed the disco.”

Thank you for the lovely comments. We did have lots of fun and it was great to see so many of the Nursery children at the school disco too. We think you must have all slept well that night after such an exciting day.

Pumpkin Parade

Bethany and Sophie’s families enjoyed our recent photos of the children decorating pumpkins in Nursery and it is certainly true that they worked so hard at this activity and were very creative with their ideas.

Bethany’s Mum: “They both look very busy! Super pumpkin decorators!”

Sophie’s Mum: “Lovely photos as usual, everyone seems to be concentrating hard on such a fun task!”

We were also delighted that so many Nursery families took part in the pumpkin decorating competition which was judged at our school Hallowe’en disco last night. Our children’s contributions looked fantastic and congratulations must go to Sophie from the Sunshine Room who was the winner in the Nursery category. Well done everyone who took part. We hope that those who didn’t make it to the disco will enjoy our photos showing a selection of the pumpkins Nursery children did with their families.

Hallowe’en Pumpkins

It’s been a busy day in Nursery today preparing for Hallowe’en. We had several pumpkins to investigate and decorate ready for our party.
As you can see from the photos, the children were intrigued by what was inside the pumpkins and spent a long time spooning out the flesh and seeds ready for our lanterns. Some drew the faces on the pumpkins for staff to carve and then lots of children contributed to the decoration of them. Never before have we seen so many “jewels” on a pumpkin as the on the one that Rainbow Room morning children created and we especially loved the cheeky tongue and teeth on one of the Sunshine Room’s designs. We think that your pumpkins will look wonderful at our parties tomorrow. Well done everyone.

Hallowe’en Is Coming

We hope that everyone is enjoying their October holiday. Before you know it, we will be back in Nursery and looking forward to our Hallowe’en parties. As you can see, one or two of the children were getting in the mood on the last day of term as we set up our Hallowe’en houses, ready for our witches to brew up their potions. Enjoy the rest of your holiday boys and girls. We will see you all soon.
