Come and Play

Great teamwork with that tricky puzzle!
Great teamwork with that tricky puzzle!
The Rainbow morning children had super visitors to play with this week when Summer and Dylan’s Mums came in to play. It’s a great way to see first hand how the Nursery runs and to spend time with some delightful children who will love to play with you. Remember we have a grid up in the cloakroom area where you can add your name if you would like to come in to play. Alternatively we are always looking for helpers to come to Annan library on a Monday with us so please speak to staff if you are available to join our little trip out. Thank you to Summer and Dylan’s Mums for joining us this week. We hope that you enjoyed your visit and that you come to play again another day.

Monster Fun

Neve and Kacey’s families have been looking at our monster photos:

“Neve really enjoyed making her monster loved sticking all the sticky bits on”

“Kacey had great fun making her Loch Ness monster..x”

We love the monsters – they are all so different. It’s been great seeing what everyone has been doing at home.

Hecklegirth Monsters

Thank you so much to all the families who worked with their children to produce such wonderful Hecklegirth monsters. We think that they are all fantastic and it has been clear how much the children have enjoyed this activity by the enthusiasm they have shown when telling us about them. We hope that you enjoy our monster gallery.

Lovely Singing

Noah’s family has been looking at the photos of our Burns celebration:

“I really enjoyed hearing the lovely songs you’ve been learning!
I hope Noah didn’t eat all the oatcakes!”

Thank you for coming to hear the children sing. It makes such a difference to them to perform to a lovely audience. All the Scottish food went down very well with everyone which was great to see.

Kind Comments

We have had several comments on our Burns celebration photos.

Olivia’s Mum said, “Lovely picture! So nice to see Olivia with a happy, smiley face!” and “Well done everyone, Olivia’s aunty and myself really enjoyed your Scot’s singalong!”
We are glad that you enjoyed the singing – we thought that the children showed great confidence, especially as they did not have long to practise.

Thom’s Mum enjoyed the photos too – “Nice Photo of two good friends;-) Ha, Thom said he wasn’t going to have Irn Bru because the bubbles went up his nose last time but he obviously decided to give it another go..”
Yes Thom seemed happy to give the Irn Bru a second chance. It’s nice to have an occasional treat although some of the children seemed to think the next day that Irn Bru was now a daily option and were surprised that we had returned to the milk/water option.

“Looking very smart :-) Dylan said he had a good day joining in Burns celebrations and he enjoyed tasting the oatcakes and in bru.I was really gutted that I couldn’t make it to join in the celebration to watch and hear everyone sing but I’m sure everyone would of done really well. Dylan certainly practised plenty and we have loved hearing him practise learning new words and songs :-)

The children did look great so thanks to you all. Great to hear that Dylan has been letting you hear the songs at home.

Burns Photos

Kacey’s family has been having a look at the photos of our Burns celebration. They liked the photo of Kacey with a friend – “Aww they both look so cute..x” – and the ones of the children enjoying their “Burns supper” – “Looks like everyone enjoyed trying the Scottish food and urn bru..x”

The children did look super and everyone enjoyed trying the Scottish foods. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.

Well Done Jim

Jim and his family were pleased to see his photo on the blog recently:

“Jim loved bringing in his photos from last years shows. He was so excited about being able to show everyone what he has been up to.”

We were excited to see the photos too. How grown-up Jim looks and what an achievement. Thank you so much for sending these in – they were a great talking point for everyone.

Enjoying Our Blog

It’s great to know that our families are still enjoying looking at the blog. Noah’s family was pleased with the photo of him busy in the digging area:

“Great photograph of a potential Gardener!”

Noah certainly looks like he loves the great outdoors.

Olivia’s Mum has been looking at the children’s ideas of what healthy means:

“Fab answers! How did I know this would be Olivia’s response?! She just loves a bit of hand washing!!”

Well done Olivia for knowing why we need to wash our hands. We agree that the children did show a good understanding of how to be healthy.

Parents as Early Education Partners (PEEP)

coffee3PEEP is for parents and children (age 5 and under). Meetings are once a week for about 40 minutes. At these meetings we will be learning through playing, singing, telling stories and generally having fun. Your child will join you for part of the session.

If you are interested in PEEP and would like more information, please pop in to the Family Learning room tomorrow, 15th January, anytime between 11.00 and 3.00 or on Tuesday, 19th January, between 9.00 and 1.30. Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, will be ready with a tea or coffee to explain what you would be doing in these sessions. Children will not join you for these initial sessions. We hope that lots of parents/carers pop in for a coffee to these drop-in sessions to find out a little more as they sound like good fun and will help your child’s learning.

If you cannot come tomorrow or Tuesday but would like more information, please contact Eileen or leave a message with Nursery staff.
