Last week saw the final PEEP session with Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, and the theme was using props to bring familiar stories to life. The story was “The Hungry Caterpillar” and, after reading the story and feeding the special caterpillar bag with the food the caterpillar ate during his/her week of eating, our families used food to show the lifecycle of a butterfly.
Eileen said, “This was our last PEEP session and I would like to thank all of the parents, grannies and children who have joined in over the six weeks”.
I’m sure that everyone who took part has enjoyed these sessions and we would like to thank Eileen for her hard work over the past weeks to make these fun activities for all those who took part.

Barbecue
We hope that lots of people have their barbecue tickets bought and are looking forward to a lovely evening relaxing in the sun tonight. Hecklegirth Fundraisers have worked hard to bring this event together and are looking forward to seeing lots of Nursery and school families there. The barbecue is on from 6.00 until 8.00 and money raised, as always, will be used to support activities and resources for all children in the school and Nursery. We hope that those going have a great time.
Fun With Numbers
Here are some of the children and their families at last week’s PEEP session which was all about numbers. As part of the session they played a numbers action game. There was lots of winking, blinking, clapping and hopping. Eileen told me that turning around six times made Alyssa dizzy!! It certainly sounds like a lot of fun.
Zumba Moves
Noah’s family has been looking at the photos of our Health Week:
“Noah really enjoyed the Zumba and was still doing the moves when we left school!” Well done Noah for remembering the moves! That will please Mrs. Menzies.
He also loved the medal he got on our Fun Activity Day for all his hard work:
“Awh! Noah was so proud that he got a ‘model’!”
We were very proud of all the children for showing such enthusiasm and confidence that day. We love that Noah liked his ‘model’!
Fun in the Sun
It seemed too good to be true that the sun decided to shine on our Fun Activity Day, after a rather wet start to Health Week, but we were very grateful for the lucky weather. Thank you so much to all family and friends who took the time to cheer on the children today, as well as the buddies of Primary 6 who were great helpers and supporters of the children both morning and afternoon.
We are sure that, like us, you felt very proud of them all as they confidently showed off their skills and great teamwork. We managed to capture photos of some of the children with those well deserved medals and an ice lolly finished off our day nicely. We hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Well done boys and girls – you really showed yourselves to be ‘confident individuals’.
Lovely Sunflowers Noah!
Noah’s family has been admiring some of his art work:
“Lovely sunflowers Noah! We love watching our sunflower grow at home, thank you!”
We loved that you drew your sunflowers using pen Noah – super work! I wonder how everyone’s sunflower is getting on now? I hope that you’re all looking after them.

Enid’s family is very proud of her recent award:
“A little later than intended catching up with the blog, but Enid’s ‘increased confidence ‘ was a very welcome surprise, and she was very proud to show us. Enid can be very shy so this certificate gives us some reassurance that she is building her confidence.”

Play Dough Testing
Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, has left a message about the play dough testing at her PEEP sessions today:
“Our play dough testing is over. The favourite was the play dough made with hair conditioner. It was the squishiest and had a lovely smell, it also made our hands nice and soft. Least favourite was the play dough made with yoghurt.”
Thank you all you play dough testers who took part. I liked the smell of the hair conditioner play dough too. I wonder if you will make any at home?
Fire Station Fun
Finlay’s family has been looking at the photos from the fire station:
“Finlay enjoyed his morning at the fire station and would like to be a firefighter when he grows up. Finlay said he laughed a lot when Mrs Gray soaked Mrs Kirkpatrick with the big hose!!😁”
Poor Mrs. Kirkpatrick, she really was soaked but it was an accident. The children did find it very funny.
Joshua H’s family liked the fire station photos too:
“Joshua looks so happy sitting in the fire engine 😄.” and “Joshua looks like he had lots of fun here 😊”
That fire engine certainly put lots of smiles on the children’s faces.
Happy Children
Quinn’s family likes the photos of the children with the tractor and the lamb:
“These are fantastic photos. We hears lots about this visit. Love seeing our wee girl so happy at nursery. Xx”
