Having been inspired by our recent discussions about Vincent Van Gogh, the children have had the opportunity to create their own sunflower artwork which has formed a display in both the school and Nursery corridors. Here is a selection of some of their work – please take the time to have a look at the displays in school as we think the children have produced some great art.

Painting In The Sun
Two of our families have commented on the lovely photos of the children enjoying various activities out in the sunshine last week.
“It was lovely to have some sunshine last week , both the girls look like there really enjoying painting together outside.”
“The fun in the sun photos are lovely, it’s interesting seeing the staff and children doing lots of different activities. Keira looks as if she’s concentrating the paintings she brings home are lovely.”
Thank you for leaving us your comments. The children do love painting outdoors.
Spring Art
We hope that everyone is enjoying their Easter holiday especially the lovely Spring sunshine that we have been having. At the end of term we began to talk about the seasonal changes and will continue to learn about springtime at the start of next term. Inspired by our discussions, here is a selection of the artwork that the children have created.

Easter Egg Extravaganza
There was a  great response to the recent competition to decorate boiled eggs for Easter. So many fantastic eggs appeared that an extra table had to be found to display all the Nursery and Primary 1 entrants. Well done to the Nursery prize winner, who you can see here with her prize, and to everyone who took the time to enter the competition. We thought that your ideas were wonderful and wanted to share a selection of them with you all. Can you spot your egg in the photos below?
Easter Family Activities
Last week twenty nine families took part in our latest Family Learning activity which was to make Easter crafts. Cotton wool, glue and elastic featured heavily and, as you can see, the children had great fun producing their bunny masks and Easter wristbands. Thank you to Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, for providing a super activity for families to enjoy together and thank you also to everyone who came along to her sessions. We hope that you had fun.
Super Artwork
Inspired by our visits out to the community and visitors to Nursery, the children have been taking their learning about various jobs into the art area. They have taken care over their work and, as a result, they have produced some super paintings.

Scottish Art
Chalk, pens, paint and glue have all been in action in the art and craft area to produce a range of work based on our learning about Scotland. As you can see, the children used different ways to design tartan and to make their own Scottish flags. We were impressed with all their work and have put up a display in the dinner hall to share with the rest of the school.
Hecklegirth Monsters
We would like to share some of the Hecklegirth monsters that the children recently designed and made at home with their families. Inspired by our discussions of the Loch Ness Monster they have produced some wonderful models and drawings of their own. I wonder what the Loch Ness Monster would think of them?
More Burns Fun
As promised, we wanted to share some photos from our afternoon Burns celebration. As you can see, the children looked great wearing tartan and most were keen to sample the shortbread, oatcakes, cheese and Irn Bru. Despite low numbers on Monday afternoon, most of the children showed themselves to be confident performers and families and friends looked suitably proud of their performance. Well done boys and girls!
