Superheroes

Superhero Day seemed appropriate for the end of Big Pedal Week and lots of the children came dressed as fantastic superheroes to celebrate the end of a great week of cycling and scooting to school. The art and craft area was particularly busy as some of the children decided to make their own masks and capes to create their own individual superhero outfit. We think that you all looked great!

The Magic of Colours

One of our areas of focus this term has been colour mixing and the children had great fun experimenting with this on a big scale outdoors last week. Their initial task was to make big bowls of paint of different colours then they experimented to see what happens when you add varying amounts of other colours to the original paint. A wonderful array of colours was produced until, mysteriously and slowly, it all seemed to transform into a muddy brown. The children showed good communication skills, as they predicted what would happen, made suggestions of what to do next and then discussed the outcome of their experimenting. Happy learning indeed!

Eggs-ellent Eggs!

What a lot of fantastic eggs appeared from our Nursery children for the decorated boiled egg competition! It was great to see that so many children and their families had worked together at home on this fun Easter activity and the Nursery/Primary 1 tables were full of lots of creative ideas. Well done to the Primary 1 winner and to Cormac from Nursery who was the runner-up in our category but a huge thanks and well done to everyone who took the time to enter the competition. We thought that your eggs were amazing!

Easter Art

With the Easter holiday fast approaching, some of the children have been experimenting to make their own Easter art in the art and craft area. Here is a selection from the Sunshine Room. We love that the children have all had their own ideas to add to their display.

Easter Crafts

Easter craft activities were very popular last week with children and their families as Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, organised some fun with coloured paper, glue and pipe cleaners. It was great to see lots of children and their families take part. Thanks, as always, to Eileen – we are sure that everyone enjoyed your super activities. Decorated Eggs Competition

eggPlease remember that tomorrow (March 22nd) is the day to bring your decorated boiled eggs to school for the competition. Entries should be with us by the end of the day so that they can be displayed in the school foyer. A few early entries are already on display so we look forward to seeing your ideas.

Read Aloud

We would like to remind you that Eileen’s rearranged Read Aloud session is on tomorrow, March 1st, from 12.15 until 1.00 when story, activities and crafts will be available in the Family Learning Room. We hope that those who missed last time through illness are feeling better now and are able to attend.
