Thank you to all the family and friends who were able to watch the children’s performance today of the Autumn songs that they have been learning. We really appreciate your support in providing a wonderful audience for the children and we hope that you enjoyed their performance as much as they seemed to.
One of our aims is to develop ‘confident individuals’ and many of our children showed themselves to be exactly that in performing in front of a large audience. Well done boys and girls! We think that your families were as proud of you as we were.

Autumn Work
Lily’s family has been looking at the various photos of our work on Autumn:
“Lily has been absolutely loving all this autumn work- especially the songs as she sings them all the time! 🙉 She likes to go on the iPad and watch the song clips!”
Well done for singing your songs at home to your family Lily. That must be why you perform them so well in Nursery.
Autumn Singing
We would like to remind you that, as we come towards the end of our learning about Autumn, you can come a little early to collect the children tomorrow, Thursday 13th October, to hear them singing a few songs that they have been practising.
Space is obviously limited at the moment for lots of adults as well as children, while our building work is being carried out, but we hope that we should be able accommodate everyone just for a short time. Please arrive for 11.45 or 2.50, depending on the session your child attends, if you wish to hear the children singing.
Fairy Garden
After using the hammer and chisel to make doors and windows in the fairy houses, decoration was the next stage. As you can see, the children chose bright colours to complete their houses then it was time to place them in a quiet corner of the garden. A shiny river had to be decorated with blue stones and the brightly painted shells and stones were placed round the little garden. The children seem quite pleased with their work and we think that they have made a lovely little fairy garden, all created from their own imagination.

Fairies
While creating our fairy garden, the children thought it might be a good idea to make some fairies of our own. They were very busy with glue, pens, pegs and material and it was quite a tricky job because, as we all know, fairies are very small so some careful work was required. However, some beautiful little characters were created and they now live in the fairy garden. We are wondering if they may encourage other little fairies to join them?
Painting for the Outdoors
Ava’s family has been looking at the photos of the stones and shells that the children painted:
“All the Shells and stones look great. Ava said she enjoyed painting some of them.”
Ava and lots of other children did a great job. We think that they have brightened up the outdoor area and we hope that the fairies like them in their garden.
Shells and Stones
As part of the children’s work on the outdoor environment, they decorated shells and stones to put in the fairy garden and around our sensory plants. There was lots of discussion about which colours and patterns to decorate them with and it is lovely to see what super ideas the children have had, creating a variety of designs. Once the stones and shells were decorated, some Maths skills had to be used as we needed to sort the blue ones into a separate pile to be used as part of the fairy garden’s little river. All the decorated stones and shells are now on display in the Nursery garden so we hope that you can find time to have a look at them with your children. We think that they have made a brilliant job of their artwork.
Experts In Short Trousers
The afternoon children recently experienced a dance workshop called “Experts In Short Trousers”. They had to use good listening skills to follow instructions and, as you can see, they worked hard and had good fun making their bodies into lots of different shapes.
Unfortunately this company could not offer us a morning slot but we think that they are running workshops in the October holidays for local children so keep your eyes peeled in the local press if your child might be interested.
Picture Gallery
Bethany’s family has been looking at the children’s first artwork:
“Love seeing all these pictures :). Love Bethanys wee dinosaur”
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. We hope that everyone is enjoying getting a little insight into Nursery life.
Art Work
Logan and Lily’s families loved the children’s artwork:
“Loving the crocodile picture Logan. Good work son xx”
“The yellow one is daddy and the red one is Leo!”
We’re glad that you’re enjoying their first pieces of art. We have put some pictures in the school corridor too so that everyone can enjoy the lovely bright work.
