Christmas arrived in Nursery on Friday when the Christmas tree appeared and the afternoon children were certainly excited when the Christmas decoration boxes were brought out for them to investigate. As you can see, they made a great job of decorating their tree as did those who painted a stable for a backdrop to our knitted nativity figures.
We think that lots of these children will be a great help when the Christmas decorations come out at home and we hope that everyone enjoys looking at the results of their hard work next week.

Goodbye
Miss Calvert, our Childhood Studies student, finished her placement with us yesterday. As part of her course she made instruments with the children to use outdoors so we thought that we would share a few photos with you of her activity.
No doubt Miss Calvert will be missed by the children but she will be back in Nursery next term on her final placement so we look forward to seeing her again soon.
Snowmen, Snowmen Everywhere
As promised, here is a gallery of some of the snowmen the children have been creating recently. It has been super to see them plan which materials they will use from the selection available and we think that they have done a great job of producing their own individual snowmen.

Super Snowmen
Lots of snowmen have been appearing in the art area of Nursery lately and it’s great to see the range of ideas the children can produce to create some wonderful individual works of art.
This is our display to contribute to the air of Christmas in the school corridor which is lined with lots of super snowmen by every class. I wonder if the children can find their own work of art? Look out for lots of snowmen appearing in Nursery too. We will post some individual photos soon.

New Wood Supplies
As our wood supplies were dwindling in our outdoor area, we were lucky to get a delivery as a kind donation from Mr. Kerr at the end of last term. As you can see from the photos, the children loved being little helpers to carry the wood into the garden and some decided that they wanted it painted so they took on the responsibility of doing that themselves. Of course, as soon as a new pile of wood appeared, it was not long before dens were being built and lots of super imaginative play developed as a result. Well done for more super teamwork boys and girls.
Family Fun
Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, organised more sessions of her Autumn Make and Take activities on Friday. We hope that all these families enjoyed themselves as much as those earlier in the week. It has been lovely to see so many taking part.
Make and Take
Lots of children and their families tried out our Family Learning ‘Make and Take’ on Tuesday. Scissors, glue, Autumn leaves and chocolate fingers were on the tables when I popped in and it looked there was lots of super concentration going on as the children created their little Autumn lamps. Thank you so much to Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, for organising this lovely activity. We hope that those attending Friday’s sessions have good fun too.
Autumn Artists
As part of our learning about Autumn, the children developed a good awareness of the changing colours of the leaves at this time of year. This learning developed further in the art area as some experimented to mix different shades of paint which were then used for vegetable printing. The children produced some lovely work which is now displayed in Nursery and the school corridor. We hope that you enjoy our little taster here of some of the artists at work. Singing at Home
Two more of our families have commented on the children’s singing:
“It was lovely to watch the kids sing yesterday. Bethany sings these songs every day.”
“Gutted that I wasn’t able to make it this time, however Olivia has been singing her songs non stop at home and teaching the songs and actions to her little sister!! She told me the singing‘went good’ at nursery! 🙂”
It’s lovely to hear that the children have been singing their songs at home. It sounds like Olivia’s little sister will be a star by the time she comes to Nursery herself with Olivia teaching her lots of songs.
Autumn Performance
Isaac’s family has left a lovely comment about the children’s performance of their Autumn songs:
“Was lovely to hear all the boys and girls singing today. Isaac had been practising lots at home so was really looking forward to it. Well done everyone!”
Well done Isaac for practising at home. It’s good to hear that you have enjoyed learning these songs.
