Christmas In Our Community

After the super singing of the morning Sunshine children at Annan Court Care Home, it was the turn of the Rainbow morning children to make a visit in our community to Annan Day Care Centre earlier this week.

Yet again our little Nursery children made us very proud as they confidently sung their Christmas songs to the ladies and gentlemen in the audience. It was lovely to see some of the audience joining in with the actions and songs so thank you everyone for making us feel welcome.

After lots of singing, it’s great to have a refreshing drink and the ladies in charge very kindly provided us with juice which was much appreciated. Thank you boys and girls for behaving so beautifully and providing great entertainment in our local community. We hope to have more opportunities to perform again in the future with different groups.

In the meantime, we hope that all our families are looking forward to our Christmas celebration tomorrow (Friday) with Rev. McGougan when you can hear the children’s singing for yourselves. We look forward to seeing you there.

Singing In The Community

The morning children from the Sunshine Room visited Annan Court Care Home on Friday to perform their Christmas songs to the residents. This was an opportunity for the children to develop their confidence and to be part of the wider community.
It was a joy to see the delight that our little Nursery children gave to the elderly ladies and gentlemen and their singing and behaviour was superb. They also showed good manners when given juice, crisps and sweets from the staff so we were very proud of everyone who took part. Thank you so much to the staff and residents at Annan Court for making us feel so welcome – we loved your singing too.
Well done boys and girls for showing yourselves to be responsible citizens, effective contributors and confident individuals. You certainly earned those certificates.

Christmas Sales Team

fayreOur chocolate Christmas shapes seemed very popular at the Christmas Fayre today and were sold in no time. Well done to our great sales team who you can see here and to all those children who helped to make the chocolate.
It was great to see lots of Nursery children and their families visiting the Fayre too. We hope that you all enjoyed yourselves.

Sunshine Stories

After missing their initial visit to Annan library two weeks ago due to poor weather conditions, the children in the Sunshine Room finally got their chance to visit the library on Monday. They displayed super behaviour and listened well to the stories that Tina had chosen for them. Thank you to the kind Mummy, Daddy and Granny who made our trip possible by coming with us. We look forward to our next visit soon.

Library Visit

To further develop links with our wider community, we have begun to visit Annan library on a Monday. Each room will visit on alternate weeks to build their literacy skills and become familiar with our local library. We apologise to those in the Sunshine Room who were expecting to go on their first visit today but we really felt that the high winds made this a safety issue for the children. Hopefully we will be able to make a visit soon.
Last week the Rainbow Room made their first visit and the children seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Marion made us very welcome and explained to the children that they could come to the library with their families to borrow books. She read us some super stories which engaged the children and they then had the opportunity to choose books to share with adults and other children. We hope that you love these photos as much as we do – it’s great to see our children so engaged with books.
We would like to thank those parents who came with us on our first visit and those who have kindly volunteered to join us in the future. We really appreciate your support and look forward to lots of parents being part of our visits. Well done also to the children for their super behaviour – Marion was very impressed with you all and is looking forward to our next visit.

Hallowe’en Party Fun

Thanks to everyone for dressing the children in their super outfits for our Hallowe’en parties last week. We dooked for apples, caught marshmallows with our teeth, played lots of games and enjoyed party food together. It was lovely to see how confident the children have become, with children from both rooms happy to have fun together. We hope you can get a flavour of the parties from our photos.

Nursery and Primary 1 Hallowe’en Fun

Great fun was had last week with Early Years Hallowe’en activities. Primary 1 visited Nursery to decorate biscuits and Nursery children enjoyed craft activities in the Primary 1 classrooms. This was a great opportunity to build the confidence of the children to work in different environments and with different people. As you can see, they got right into the Hallowe’en spirit. Thank you Mrs. Lindsay and Miss Campbell for welcoming the Nursery children into your classrooms.

Parachute Play

The last day of term was one of beautiful Autumn sunshine so it was the perfect opportunity for some parachute games. The children showed good listening skills and great teamwork to ensure lots of fun was had by everyone. I wonder if we will have any more sunny days like this next week when we return to Nursery?

Read, Write, Count

read-right-count-logoWe would like to share some great ideas from the Scottish government on a site called “Read, Write, Count”. As a parent or carer, you’re the most important teacher in your child’s life. In fact, research shows that when parents help their child with learning outside of school, the children do better with things like reading and counting. This is a site with ideas to make it easy for parents to bring fun and learning into everyday activities. Whether it’s in the supermarket, on the way to school, at bedtime or sitting down for a meal, “Read, Write, Count” has lots of simple ideas that put smiles on children’s faces while giving them the best start in life. We hope that you have fun with your child using some of these great ideas. Click on the link on the right to “Read, Write, Count” under the heading “Useful Reading”.
