Sunshine Play

We would like to thank you all for bearing with us in the recent disruption caused by a leaking pipe in Nursery. Our group texts were sent as soon as we were aware of the situation and hopefully kept everyone informed. We ask that anyone who had problems with our communication please speaks to us, so that we can ensure we are always doing the best we can for all our families, rather than posting on social media which is not so easy to respond to. We are happy to listen to any concerns or suggestions you may have.
The Sunshine Room children thoroughly enjoyed their temporary Nursery in the school hall and responded well to the change of environment. As you can see from the photos below, they accessed a wide range of activities and took all the changes in their stride with confidence. Thank you again for your patience and support over the past week.

Burns Celebration Take Two

As promised, we wanted to share some photos from our afternoon Burns celebration and, as you can see, the children looked great wearing tartan and most were keen to sample the shortbread, oatcakes, cheese and Irn Bru. Despite low numbers on Tuesday, the children showed themselves to be confident performers and families and friends looked suitably proud of their performance. Well done boys and girls!

Burns Celebration

We may have been one day late, due to unforeseen circumstances, but today we celebrated Burns Day in style with shortbread, oatcakes and cheese and, of course, Irn Bru. We appreciate everyone making a super effort to provide the children with ‘a touch o’ tartan’ as they looked wonderful despite the awful weather you all faced coming to Nursery. Thank you also to all the family and friends who came to hear the children sing their Scottish songs. It’s so important for them to have an appreciative audience and you certainly helped to make it a memorable occasion. Here you can see some of the morning children enjoying their celebration. Afternoon photos will follow soon.

Happy Start

Some of the children have been on the blog for the first time, having started last week, and their families have left us comments to say that they have settled well:

“Isaac is loving nursery so far and looks forward to it every day.”

“Noah is really enjoying his nursery sessions, thank you!”

It’s good to hear that Isaac and Noah are happy. We hope that they continue to enjoy Nursery life. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.

Settling In

Eight new children have joined us this week and they are beginning to settle well into Nursery life. They are becoming familiar with the routines and are growing in confidence to try out a range of activities. We hope that our new families enjoy using our blog to get a feel for life in Hecklegirth Nursery and thought we would share these photos of some of the children enjoying their first few days. Thank you to those who have returned their permission slips so far. We would ask that those who have not yet done this, to return their slips next week. Once you given us permission, your child can appear here on the blog and you can see them at play.

Party Time

Here are the promised photos that show that the party spirit was just as evident in the afternoon party as the morning one. As you can see, they joined in the dancing and games with enthusiasm and were also lucky enough to get a visit from Santa. As with the photos of the morning children, please click then click again to make the photos clearer.

Christmas Party Time

A fun time was had by all at our Christmas parties yesterday with something for everyone, be it games, dancing or party food. The children from the Rainbow and Sunshine Rooms played confidently together and were delighted to have a visit from Santa, despite it being such a busy time of year for him. Thank you Santa – we all really appreciated your visit.

The photos below give you a taste of our morning party and photos of the afternoon party will follow in the next day or two.

Super Celebration

Dylan’s Mum has been looking at the photos of our Christmas celebration:

“We absolutely loved watching the children in their Christmas celebration, we are very proud of Dylan and all the other boys and girls as they done really well, standing up infront of a big audience singing their wee hearts out and all looked so cute. A big well done to all the staff cause all ur hard work really paid off, was truly a lovely celebration 🙂 xxx”

Thank you for your comment. We were certainly proud of every one of the children who showed great confidence in front of a big audience.

Christmas Celebration

We hope that, like us, you were very proud of all the children as they behaved and sang so beautifully in front of a big audience at our Christmas celebration on Friday. Huge thanks go to Rev. McGougan, Mrs. Alexander and Mr. Palmer for joining us and to the many family members who helped to make this a special occasion for the children. Here are a few photos of the children as they prepared for their performance.
