Annan Display

Mrs. Alexander left a comment for everyone:

“I loved reading your work about how super Annan is! I saw lots of people looking at your work in the Nursery window on the Day of the Region. They were saying, “What clever boys and girls they are in the Nursery.” I could not agree more!”

It really was lovely to see all the great work that you did and it made us realise what a lot of different, exciting things there are to do in Annan.

Nursery and Primary 7 Conga

At the end of last week Primary 7 went out to Beat the Street with some of the Nursery children. If you click on the link to Hecklegirth Primary School on the right, then click on the Primary 7 page you will see them doing the conga to make it even more fun to beep their cards.
Thank you Primary 7. The Nursery children had great fun.

Benji The PlayTalkRead Bus

Benji Dumfries & Galloway September 2015 digitalBenji, the PlayTalkRead bus, will be at Hecklegirth tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd September. This is a great, free early years initiative which is open to parents, carers and children in the area to come along and enjoy some free activities. All local families are welcome between 10.00-1.00 and 2.00-4.00. The bus will be hosting free storytelling and rhythm sessions and a range of play and activity sessions for children and their parents, to promote and raise awareness of the benefits of positive parental engagement with simple free activities which parents can take home, with the aim that they build upon the ideas and activities sessions at home with their children.

Day Of The Region

As well as having her super picture on display, Kacey’s family has been telling us about her taking part in other activities on Day of the Region in Annan:

“Kacey enjoyed all the day of the region activities she was dancing on Friday and Saturday and released a balloon with her name on…x”

Sounds like you’ve had a great time Kacey. Well done with your dancing! It certainly was a good day for all involved.

We Love Annan

We hope that lots of you enjoyed the fun activities in gorgeous sunshine at Annan’s Day of the Region today. It really was lovely to see so many families and community groups taking part with such enthusiasm. The super pictures that you made of your favourite places and activities in Annan were displayed on the Nursery windows, along with others from Hecklegirth and other local schools and we thought that they looked wonderful. If you didn’t get a chance to see them all today, here is a selection of your ideas and drawings.

Day of The Region

dayThank you to those parents who have helped the children make a picture at home to depict their favourite place or thing to do in Annan. These pictures will be displayed later in the week to celebrate Annan’s Day of the Region on Saturday 18th September.
The school grounds will be open to help showcase some of our local clubs and activities. The Nursery and school windows between the John Bell field and the tennis pavilion will be covered in artwork from the four local primary schools so watch out for your pictures there. There’s plenty time for more children to bring in their drawings so keep thinking about what you like best in Annan – we would love to have a picture from you to display to celebrate Annan’s Day of the Region.

Beep The Card

Kacey’s Mum commented on our “Beat the Street” photos:

“Kacey was really excited that she was able to beep the card as we couldn’t get a card as there is none left anywhere!”

I think we still have some left in Nursery. If you ask the Rainbow Room staff tomorrow, they will hopefully be able to give you one Kacey and you can beep the card with your family.

Beat The Street

The lovely weather this week has been a great incentive to get out and about with the Nursery children to take part in the Beat the Street campaign as part of the Scottish Government’s Smarter Choices Smarter Places initiative. As you can see, the children have enjoyed taking a walk to tap the Beat Boxes close to Nursery and have managed to earn points along the way. We hope that you are all joining in with this great Health and Wellbeing event with your families too.

Kenzie Beats The Street

ken What a super photo of Kenzie out and about in Annan on “Beat the Street”. She’s been going out on her bike with her Mum to get healthy while having lots of fun and earning points. Well done Kenzie – keep up the good work. Thank you to Kenzie’s Mum for her action photo.  I  wonder if anyone else has been taking part with their families?

World Book Day Outing

World Book Day was a great success with the children coming to Nursery in their pyjamas with their favourite book. As part of our celebration and our learning about the local community, we also paid a visit to Annan library. As you can see, everyone seemed to enjoy the super stories read by Tina and were keen to discuss which was their favourite.
Lots of children seemed to be familiar with the library and hopefully more may join after this visit. Thank you to all the parents who came along with us. We really appreciate your help.
