Sunshine Play

We would like to thank you all for bearing with us in the recent disruption caused by a leaking pipe in Nursery. Our group texts were sent as soon as we were aware of the situation and hopefully kept everyone informed. We ask that anyone who had problems with our communication please speaks to us, so that we can ensure we are always doing the best we can for all our families, rather than posting on social media which is not so easy to respond to. We are happy to listen to any concerns or suggestions you may have.
The Sunshine Room children thoroughly enjoyed their temporary Nursery in the school hall and responded well to the change of environment. As you can see from the photos below, they accessed a wide range of activities and took all the changes in their stride with confidence. Thank you again for your patience and support over the past week.

Kind Comments

We have had several comments on our Burns celebration photos.

Olivia’s Mum said, “Lovely picture! So nice to see Olivia with a happy, smiley face!” and “Well done everyone, Olivia’s aunty and myself really enjoyed your Scot’s singalong!”
We are glad that you enjoyed the singing – we thought that the children showed great confidence, especially as they did not have long to practise.

Thom’s Mum enjoyed the photos too – “Nice Photo of two good friends;-) Ha, Thom said he wasn’t going to have Irn Bru because the bubbles went up his nose last time but he obviously decided to give it another go..”
Yes Thom seemed happy to give the Irn Bru a second chance. It’s nice to have an occasional treat although some of the children seemed to think the next day that Irn Bru was now a daily option and were surprised that we had returned to the milk/water option.

“Looking very smart :-) Dylan said he had a good day joining in Burns celebrations and he enjoyed tasting the oatcakes and in bru.I was really gutted that I couldn’t make it to join in the celebration to watch and hear everyone sing but I’m sure everyone would of done really well. Dylan certainly practised plenty and we have loved hearing him practise learning new words and songs :-)

The children did look great so thanks to you all. Great to hear that Dylan has been letting you hear the songs at home.

Burns Celebration Take Two

As promised, we wanted to share some photos from our afternoon Burns celebration and, as you can see, the children looked great wearing tartan and most were keen to sample the shortbread, oatcakes, cheese and Irn Bru. Despite low numbers on Tuesday, the children showed themselves to be confident performers and families and friends looked suitably proud of their performance. Well done boys and girls!

Burns Photos

Kacey’s family has been having a look at the photos of our Burns celebration. They liked the photo of Kacey with a friend – “Aww they both look so cute..x” – and the ones of the children enjoying their “Burns supper” – “Looks like everyone enjoyed trying the Scottish food and urn bru..x”

The children did look super and everyone enjoyed trying the Scottish foods. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.

Burns Celebration

We may have been one day late, due to unforeseen circumstances, but today we celebrated Burns Day in style with shortbread, oatcakes and cheese and, of course, Irn Bru. We appreciate everyone making a super effort to provide the children with ‘a touch o’ tartan’ as they looked wonderful despite the awful weather you all faced coming to Nursery. Thank you also to all the family and friends who came to hear the children sing their Scottish songs. It’s so important for them to have an appreciative audience and you certainly helped to make it a memorable occasion. Here you can see some of the morning children enjoying their celebration. Afternoon photos will follow soon.

A Celebration of Scotland

display scotlandOver the past week the children have been learning a little about Scotland and Robert Burns. We have been looking at tartan and the Scottish flag in the art area where some super work has been created. As you can see, we have displayed some of their work in the school corridor so take the opportunity to have a look if you are passing by. We will post more of the children’s art work on here soon.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow (Tuesday) when we will hold our Scottish celebration so get your tartan hunted out boys and girls.

Well Done Jim

Jim and his family were pleased to see his photo on the blog recently:

“Jim loved bringing in his photos from last years shows. He was so excited about being able to show everyone what he has been up to.”

We were excited to see the photos too. How grown-up Jim looks and what an achievement. Thank you so much for sending these in – they were a great talking point for everyone.

A Touch O’ Tartan

Unfortunately, due to flooding, there will be no Nursery on Monday 25th January. However, we expect to be open again on Tuesday and will be able to enjoy our Burns celebration then so it would be great if the children could wear a ‘touch o’ tartan’ to add to the occasion. Both rooms will come together for a little “Burns supper” and we will end our celebration by performing our songs to family and friends. We would be delighted if you could join us at 11.45 or 2.50, depending on your session, to hear the children sing their Scottish songs. We look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday.

Farmer Jim

farmerWe simply had to share this fantastic photo of Jim that he brought in to Nursery to add to his special book. He really looks quite the young farmer as he shows his Simmental calf in the Young Handlers Class. Jim took part in Dumfries Show, Carlisle Show and the Highland Show last year so he is well experienced in what to do in these situations. We loved all the photos but this is our favourite. What a fantastic achievement. Well done Jim! He’s certainly looking like the confident individual we aim for in Nursery. It would be lovely if we had more photos of the children’s wider achievements to add to their special books so please bring them in to Nursery if you have them.
