Beautiful Spring Flowers
Orla’s family has commented on the art work the children have produced recently:
“Beautiful spring pictures. Well done to all the children on such lovely and imaginative work.”
We really love that they chose lots of different ways to create their flowers.
Outdoor Teamwork
There was great excitement earlier this week when a delivery of bark and topsoil arrived to top up our outdoor area and its arrival was all the more exciting when it was delivered over the hedge by a lifting arm.
A team of hardworking gardeners was then on hand to carry the bark to the areas we needed it. As you can see, we saw some great teamwork as spades and rakes got into action, the barrows were filled and were tipped across our digging area. Thank you to everyone who helped – you did a super job. The good news is that we had another delivery today so we will need to get our sleeves rolled up again over the next few days.
Olivia’s Flowers

Open Day
Tomorrow, May 4th May, is an Open Day at Hecklegirth. After the children showed an interest in the story of Noah’s Ark on our visit to his church, Rev. McGougan is coming in to Nursery at 11.30 and 2.30 to tell them the story and parents are more than welcome to join us if they would like to. As always, you can also join us to play at any time during the day.
Sharing Your Learning
Summer’s family has been having a look at the photos of the children mixing colours outdoors:
“This will explain why Summer has started mixing all the paint together at home! I thought she was just being messy when actually she is learning. Summer is also enjoying learning the first letter of words which you have been doing in nursery, it has become her favourite game. She says the letter ‘s’ then names all the words she knows beginning with the letter. We are impressed!”
Well done Summer! It sounds like you’ve been sharing lots of your learning at home with your family.
Nursery Sessions
We would like to remind everyone of the timing of Nursery sessions. Morning children start between 8.45 and 9.10 with all children finishing at 11.55. Afternoon children should all start at 12.15 and can be collected between 3.00 and 3.25 at the end of their session.
Spring Art
As we have been learning about the signs of Spring, the children have used a range of materials in the art area to create their own individual Spring flowers which have brightened up the school corridor. Dylan’s family has been looking at some of our recent posts on the visit to church and the Big Pedal Week:

“This(Big Pedal Week) has been a great idea, was great to see so many children and parents out on their bikes and scooters, taking part, it has certainly encouraged Dylan to be out on his bike more and helping build his confidence x”
It’s great to hear that Dylan has been enjoying recent events in Nursery. It was lovely to see lots of bikes and scooters being brought in that week. Let’s hope that lots of you keep up with your cycling and scooting especially as the warmer weather hopefully starts to appear. The more you practise the better you get.
