Here is a selection of the lovely cards the children designed for their families. We love that they are all different and hope that yours is taking pride of place in your home at Christmas.
Sparkles and Glitter
Hopefully you should all have your Christmas decorations home by now. The children enjoyed this simple way to make a decoration for their tree and everyone had the opportunity to make it unique to them with the various sparkles and glitter available. We hope that they are on your tree and will be able to make an appearance every year to remind you of your time in Nursery.
Christmas Family Learning
More parents and grandparents joined the children on Friday to take part in the Family Learning ‘make and take’ Christmas activities organised by Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator. We hope that your wreaths are now adding to the festive decorations in your homes. Thank you again Eileen for organising these fun sessions. Everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed them.
Ice Homes With Primary 2
When Primary 2 wanted to put ice cube trays in our freezer recently, some of the Nursery children were curious about what they were going to do with them. A group of children was therefore invited to join Primary 2 when they collected the ice cubes for their activity. Our children worked well together with the older children when they talked about freezing and melting as they tried to make homes out of ice.
The children showed that they developed their learning from this visit to Primary 2 as you can see from some of the comments below.
Owen: we needed to build ice homes. You needed to stack them all.
Brogan: we had to get the ice out. It was very cold. It’s made of water.
Noah: we were making homes. They melted and made water.
Ethan: we went to the school. We made ice for them. We were having a feel of it. It felt freezing cold.
Thank you very much Mrs. Mahon and Primary 2 for inviting us to your class. We had lots of fun and were able to tell the other boys and girls what we had learned.

Christmas Family Learning
Thanks must go again to Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, for providing super Christmas activities for children and their families to enjoy together. As you can see from our photos, Christmas wreaths and Rudolph sandwiches were being made earlier this week and they certainly look like good fun.
It’s lovely to see so many families participating, despite everyone being so busy at this time of year, and we really appreciate Eileen offering activities on several days. Tomorrow brings more sessions so we hope that those involved enjoy their Christmas ‘make and take’ session as much as these families did.
Confident Performance
As promised, here are some photos of the afternoon children just before their Christmas celebration. Just like the morning children, they showed confidence in their performance and sang beautifully for their families. Well done to everyone and thank you so much to all those who provided a wonderful audience for the children.

Christmas Celebration
We hope that, like us, you were very proud of all the children as they behaved and sang so beautifully in front of a big audience at our Christmas celebration today. Huge thanks go to Rev. Pickles and Mr. Palmer for joining us and to the many family members who helped to make this a special occasion for the children. Here are a few photos of the morning children as they prepared for their performance. We will post photos of the afternoon children soon.

Singing Practice
Joshua H’s Mum has been looking at the photos of the children practising their Christmas songs:
“Aw Joshua looks stunned like he’s been caught off guard. Was the flash on the camera? Lol”
No doubt Joshua was concentrating on the actions as well as the singing. We hope that everyone enjoyed the children singing today.
Christmas Celebration
We hope that you are all looking forward to our Christmas celebration tomorrow, Tuesday 13th December. Morning parents can join us at 11.20 and afternoon parents at 2.20. The Nursery door will be opened for entry through the usual entrance and parents/carers can park in the John Bell car park.
We are keeping our Christmas celebration informal to encourage the children to enjoy a relaxed and happy performance of the songs they have been learning. Rev. Pickles has kindly agreed to join us and we are delighted that many of our families have indicated that they would like to be part of our celebration. As you can see, the children have been practising to make sure that you enjoy their songs. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
