As part of our recent discussion about Chinese New Year, we talked about the types of food Chinese people might eat and the children were given the opportunity to sample a few Chinese foods at snack. As you can see, some children made a good attempt at using chopsticks and most were confident to try different foods.
Toothtastic Tuesday
We are looking forward to Toothtastic Tuesday tomorrow at either 11.00 – 11.45 or 12.15 – 1.00. Childsmile staff Jacqueline and Nikki have worked with us and Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, to arrange some fun activities based on keeping our teeth healthy. Thank you to those parents who have returned the slip to say that they will be joining us. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
Scottish Fiddle Music
As part of our learning about Scotland, the morning children were very lucky this week to hear some genuine Scottish fiddle music when Edward’s Mum came in to play for us. They saw what music looks like and, as you can see, enjoyed clapping along to a great variety of Scottish tunes and nursery rhymes. We talked about how different pieces made us feel and Edward did a super job of holding the music while his Mum played.
We would like to thank Edward’s Mum very much for spending time with us and providing the children with a great experience.

Award Winners
Congratulations to last week’s award winners. Keep the good work!
Chinese Writing
As we are learning about Chinese New Year, the children have been developing their fine motor skills in the art area by using fine brushes to paint Chinese words and numerals. As you can see, they have been careful in their work and lots of children have been keen to try out this activity.
Great Photo
Callum’s Mum likes the photos from our Burns celebration:
“Aw he 3 amigos🤗. Aw great photo. Callum loved Burns day. He loved eating the shortbread and trying Iron Brew for the first time.”
It’s great to hear that Callum enjoyed the day. The children did all have a good time . Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment.
Buddy Day
Tuesday is buddy day when Primary 6 visit Nursery children to play with them. Recently the second group of buddies visited to get to know our children and they did a great job. It’s lovely to see the older and younger children chatting together as they build relationships.
Eat Better Feel Better 2017
Early Years Scotland have advised us that Eat Better Feel Better’s latest healthy eating initiative has been launched.
This year’s campaign will focus on helping frustrated parents get greens on plates, and children across Scotland will be challenged to try a new vegetable every day for five days. Go to the website below for more information on the campaign.

Proud Mum
Neve’s Mum is proud of her recent certificate:
“Neve was delighted to win this award and I was one very proud mum”
Well done Neve for doing some super work. We are proud of you too.
More Burns Celebrations
As promised, we wanted to share some photos from our afternoon Burns celebration. As you can see, the children looked great wearing tartan and most were keen to sample the shortbread, oatcakes, cheese and Irn Bru. As in the morning, the children showed themselves to be confident performers and families and friends looked suitably proud of their performance. Well done boys and girls!
