Holiday
We would like to remind everyone that Monday 7th May will be a holiday for Nursery and school. We hope that you enjoy the long weekend and look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday.
Planting
Leah and Enid have been talking to their families at home about planting seeds this week.
“Leah told us all about planting her seed in compost. She helped her papa plant his his tomato 🍅 plants this week too. She really enjoyed gardening”
“Enid told me all about how she had been planting seeds, she looks every bit the professional in this photo.”
Well done Enid and Leah for sharing your learning at home. You both did very well with your planting. Let’s hope that your seeds start to grow and good luck to Leah’s Papa for his tomato plants. I wonder which will grow bigger, the sunflower or the tomatoes?
Big Pedal Fun Day
We would like to remind you that our Big Pedal Event which has been running for almost two weeks will come to a conclusion tomorrow, Friday 4th May, with a Fun Day. All classes, including Nursery, have been timetabled to take part in cycling events with Annan Cycling Club and Katie Robinson, I Bike Officer. For those who returned the reply slip, a cycling breakfast will also be available for those who cycle or scoot to school that day.
Please remember to bring your bike or scooter tomorrow to take part in the fun activities.
Happy Times
Joshua and Nancy’s family has been looking through our recent posts and kindly left us several lovely comments.
“Nancy & Joshua loved the visit to Tesco 😊 “
“Lovely photo of all the children in front of the fire 😊 “
“I think all the children enjoyed visiting the police station, especially getting to all have a turn at putting sirens on 😊. Nancy loved pressing the buttons Joshua loved sitting in the driving seat pressing the buttons for the lights & sirens 😁”
“Joshua said mummy I was waiting patiently for my turn to help water the plants 😀”
” Aw Nancy looks like she is concentrating very hard. She loves planting flowers & gardening 😊”
We are glad that the children seem to have thoroughly enjoyed our recent activities. Thank you for taking the time to leave us comments.
Sunflowers
This week we planted sunflower seeds as we plan to look at the famous “Sunflowers” painting by Vincent Van Gogh. We talked about what the children will need to do to make their seed grow so hopefully they should be able to look after them when they bring their sunflowers home in a week or two. We look forward to hearing about some super sunflowers or even seeing a photo once they begin to grow. Fingers crossed that they can be planted outdoors and turn into a lovely burst of sunshine in a corner of everyone’s garden. Here are some of the morning children busy with their planting. We will post photos of the afternoon children soon.
Uniform Sale
Carlisle Embroidery will be in school tomorrow, Thursday 3rd May, between 2.00 and 4.00 if you would like to buy school or Nursery uniform. There will be an opportunity to try sweatshirts etc. on for size before you place an order. Uniform is also available through the Tesco site – see the link on the right of this page.
Photos
Patrick’s family has been looking through our photos and liked the ones of the children visiting the police station.
“Aww Patrick you were a bit shy but weren’t you brave getting in the big car! Well done xxx” and “Lovely 😍 seeing you with all your friends Patrick xxx”
The children did enjoy that visit and it was great that they were all able to try out the siren and blue light on the van.
Compost
Letti and Oscar’s Mum has been hearing them use our “Word of the Week” which is compost.
“I heard all about the kids putting compost in, then seeds, more compost and they each had their names in the pots. Letti and Oscar have been helping Mum planting at home this week too!”
Well done Letti and Oscar for using our word at home and what a good description they gave of what they have been doing. Well done for helping with planting at home too – you have both been very busy this week. Hopefully we will be able to post some planting photos soon.
Observational Skills
Daffodils and tulips have been the stimulus in our art area so far this term and many of the children have enjoyed creating artwork using their observational skills. Most have preferred paint as their medium but, as you can see, some have used pens and craft materials to produce their Spring flowers. We love how some children have recreated what they saw but others have produced their own ideas of what flowers look like. If you click then click again on the photos you should be able to see who the artists are. I wonder if the children can find their own work?
